Book Description

The first season of the post-apocalyptic series with more than 500 5-Star Reviews!

On October 15 at 2:15 a.m. everyone on Earth vanished.

Well, almost everyone.

A scattered few woke alone in a world where there are no rules other than survival... at any cost.

A journalist wanders the wretched reality of an empty New York, in search for his wife and son.

A serial killer must hunt in a land where prey is now an endangered species.

A mother shields her young daughter from danger, as every breath fills her with terror.

A bullied teen is thrilled to find everyone gone. Until the knock on his door.

A fugitive survives a fiery plane crash. Will he be redeemed, or return to what he's best at: the kill?

An eight year old boy sets out on a journey to find his missing family. What he finds will change him forever.

And there's a few people who aren't surprised that this happened at all. In fact, they've been dreaming about this day for years.

These survivors aren't truly alone...

Someone or something is watching them.

And waiting...

Strangers unite.

Sides are chosen.

Will humanity survive what it never saw coming?

The only certainty is that Yesterday's Gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read This If You Like to Have Your Jaw on the Floor October 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you want all the answers, this is not the book for you. The endings of each episode (there are six in the book) will leave your jaw on the floor and the ending of the entire book will leave you slamming your fist on the table because you'll have to wait for the next season, just like on TV.

Yesterday's Gone is filled with some potentially challenging concepts, though it's still a bit too early to tell. So far, the mystery is great and the larger themes are dealt with in a way that keeps you interested and always turning the pages. It's a remarkable balance of breezy reading and deep development.

Like the show "Lost," I think it will be a while before we really know if Yesterday's Gone will live up to its potential. I have a feeling the authors are making it up as they go along, just like the writers did with that show. But for now, I've not really read anything else like this on Kindle, and for that it's definitely worth the five stars.

I am having a real hard time slogging through this book. I am about 80% through and it really isn't getting better. I thought I had a handle on how to interpret the stars in the reviews, but this really has me scratching my head. I love PA books. I read alot of them. The Stand is one of my all time favorites. To compare this to the Stand is ridiculous. Anyone who does so obviously never read the Stand. It does seem like it tries to copy the Stand a little bit. Compare it to Lost. I guess? I watched all of Lost and this does incorporate some of the WORST things about Lost. The editing is good, though. Just not very believable. The other reviewer hit it right on, you just can't visualize the characters because they don't act/talk the way they are portrayed. I really hate to be so negative and the authors do have some talent and I know they enjoy what they do, but 5 stars this is not. I will give it 2. If I change my mind over the next 20% I will change that to 3 stars. Right now I will not be buying the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful discovery October 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Came across this book via an interview with one of the authors and was intrigued by the episodic format. I was pleasantly surprised, even shocked, at how professional and high caliber the writing is. A fantastic story that really cannot be put down until you reach the end.

Great job by both authors, and a very high recommendation to anyone looking for a great quality work.

If you took Stephen King's 'The Stand', the television show 'Lost', and the movie 'Die Hard' and mixed them all together, this book would be the result.

Looking forward to season two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Way TOO addicting! October 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I watched an interview with the author and decided to check out Yesterday's Gone as it sounded good. I splurged on the whole season up front as, being an author myself, I wanted to see how they had done this serialized fiction layout. Boy, am I glad I did, because I flew through Episode 1 to 3 in one day! Sean and David are excellent writers! The story is tight, action packed, and fast paced. I am officially addicted and a BIG fan! Keep up the great work guys.

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing: Any Explanation At All...For ANYTHING September 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Let me begin by saying this book is not horrible.
The low rating I am giving it is more for the nagging suspicion I have.

As you start the story all looks very intriguing. 99% of the population vanishes at the same hour and minute and only a handful of people are left to wonder and survive.
I was eager to read more. In fact I thought about recommending this story to friends of mine who also enjoy apocalyptic tales.

I continued reading...and continued...and while the story detours from character to character (a device I really don't mind at all) and some even more outrageous things happen to the people who are left the nagging suspicion in the back of my mind grew and grew.

I suspect the author/s have absolutely NO IDEA where any of this story is going. Basically making it up as they go along. I recognize the sudden twists and turns as late night inspired shock moments. Don't get me wrong....they are great twists and turns. Properly shocking and sometimes inspired. However I felt the further I dug myself into this story the more I realized I was never going to get a proper answer to the fantastical goings on that occurred about once every "episode". Timed to land just at the end of each one of course.

So I will not be getting further seasons. At least not until I can confirm that things ARE being answered.

If you enjoy gasping in shock frequently and strange unexplained phenomenon...all of which will remain unexplained....then you will really enjoy this story.
I hope that one day I can come back and update this review to say that everything has been explained, because the story held such promise.
I fear that day will never come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really excellent read, highly recommended May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
My only complaint about Yesterday's Gone, episodes 1-6 is that it pretty much took over my life for the last week. I can't say that I didn't put it down - I did after all manage to go to work, play with my kid, live my life...but I sure didn't want to put it down.

It's extremely well written, engaging, witty and terrifying in turn, and has a plot that will keep you guessing. Surprises are around every corner. Much is revealed in this first season, but the plot has thickened enough so that only season 2 (and presumably, season 3) will relieve the itch to know more. I'll be downloading season 2 almost immediately so I guess my spare time will continue to be dominated by Messrs. Platt and Wright.

I took a look at the lowest-ranked (2 stars) review for this book, and saw that the reviewer is suggesting that 5-star reviewers, such as myself, must be friends of the authors. I assure you I'm not. Haven't met them, wouldn't know them if I tripped over them. I'm just someone who enjoys good writing and imaginative speculative fiction. That's exactly what I found in Yesterday's Gone. I unashamedly tout it as one of the best things I've read this year, and unreseverdly recommend it to anyone.
