Yesterday's News—a collection of songs from great composers like Ellington, Gershwin, Fats Waller, Rodgers and Hart and many others—was the third Neil Hogan album to hit the scene. For the ragtime, blues and jazz tunes, Neil combined the chords and melody lines of these old standards and let the songs play themselves, capturing the history and mood while giving new life to legends. Also on the album are three of Neil's original compositions which highlight the diversity of his musical influence and execution.

My husband and I were traveling in Oregon a few years ago and went into a gift shop where this album was playing. The song playing was Ain't Misbehavin', then as the tape continued, I asked the clerk if she knew who the guitar player was and she said sure, they sold the tapes in the store. I bought one on the spot. My husband and I take it with us on all of our trips. Now, we have purchased it on CD, as some rental cars do not have cassette players. Hogan's way with a guitar is so addicting to listen to and has made acoustic guitar lovers of us both.
