For anyone who liked "Up In Flames" you will not be disappointed with this. Yeti expands on the sounds from Up In Flames, has the same warm drones and incredible percussion, but there's something else that is hard to pin down. Track two is good, but obviously a b-side.

The real suprise here is in track three, which starts out with acoustic guitar and a group of a Asian flutes, then after a few minutes, goes more in a direction you'd expect it to go in. This is an incredible track and amount of growth for any artist.

Like the singles from Up In Flames, this is definitely worth the money for any fan. Incredible music here.

if the Milk of Human Kindness is near as good as this, it will be great.

Dan Snaith, with his new court-approved moniker Caribou, continues the folktronica tradition with his YETI ep. The title track is a densely layered piece of psychedelia, oddly cheery, while "The Spiritually Immature Mansion" sounds more akin to what had come before when he was still Manitoba -- simple, stripped-down, wistfully melodic. The introduction of "Boreal Forest Opper" toots along with pan flutes and guitars, layered over crunchy textures, before the bulk of the song appears as a thick miasma of sound. Quite enjoyable and rarely predictable.

Dan Snaith is a genius. He's one of the most brilliant, innovative, unique, absolutely fun minds making music today.

If you like Manitoba or Caribou or whatever you call them, and if you like Caribou's "The Milk of Human Kindness," then you should definitely get this as well.

It's cheap, and worth much more.

The first track, "Yeti," is also the first track on "The Milk of Human Kindness," but here it doesn't have the initial squall of noise that starts that album out. (If you play that album on "Repeat all," that sound seems to imitate the sound made by a typical CD player starting over. Very cool.)

The second track, "The Spiritually Immature Mansion," aside from being brilliantly titled, is a shambling, groovy, almost baroque piece that will make you tap your feet and bob your head. It's cerebral, yet relaxing.

And the third and final track, "Boreal Forest Opper" is kind of haunting. It uses what sounds like a recorder, and maybe a cowbell, and at times sounds oriental and at other times Native American. It reminds me a little of parts of Sebastien Tellier's amazing album "L'Incroyable Verite." The song is long too, several minutes long, and probably the reason this CD is considered an e.p. and not a single.

Buy it, rock out, and enjoy.
