4.0 out of 5 stars Whats all the complaining
I bought the Bissel Proheat Clearview in 2001 and have been using it about six times a year since then for an entire house cleaning and about twice each month for some spot cleanings because we have a dog. I've been satisfied with the product. I don't understand all the complaints. It does stop sucking up water occasionally but all I have to do is take the water tank,...

I bought this unit and used it to clean all the carpets in my home over a three week period. At the end of the three weeks it stopped sucking the water back up, I had been taking excellent care of it and had kept it clean. I brought it to the repair place and they fixed it but it never worked as well again. It just keeps breaking. It has to be turned on its side to get the shampoo to "wake up" and start coming out. It sometimes works but often times it does not. Its been back to the repair place repeatedly and now that the warranty expired its worthless. It actually would have been cheaper to have my carpets done professionally. I have a friend who brought a similar unit at costco and had the same trouble.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money!!!, January 1, 2006
By
This machine worked great for about a month. Then, just like another reviewer mentioned, it stopped sucking up water. Multiple attempts to have it fixed were successful only for a few days. It is completely unreliable -- more than once, I've had a stain pretreated and the machine stopped sucking at rinse time. Customer "support" is not worth the call. Unless you enjoy throwing your money away, I urge you to cross this piece of junk off your list NOW!

1.0 out of 5 stars This Vac Wont Last- Don't buy Bissell and Waste your Money!!, July 18, 2006
I bought this vac, and it cleaned very good, the first two times, I kept it clean and well taked care of, but like the other reviews, the vac stopped suctioning. don't buy it! It's a waste of money. I didn't even bother to get it fixed. This isn't my 1st experience with Bissell products that just don't last. They get the job done the 1st couple of times, but they just don't last long enough to even get half of your money's worth. Don't buy bissell!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke down in less than a year, October 31, 2006
By

First, I am surprised to find how many others have had a similar experience. I had no idea.

We actually had relatively good success with our first Bissell Pro Heat. It worked fairly well for maybe 3 years, then something or other broke. We bought a new one at Walmart. Big mistake. It broke within 3 months! It simply would not get the carpet wet - I think the trigger must have broken - and so it was impossible to wash the carpet.

I should have taken it back immediately to Walmart, but I didn't believe my wife when she said it wasn't working. (Guys - take note!) By the time I realized the machine was really broken, it was too late. I have just ordered a Hoover, so I will report on that one after I use it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for about 6 uses, October 24, 2006

We used this thing about 6 times and it just stopped working. The brush always worked but it stopped spraying water and cleaning solution for no apparent reason. Very frustrating. I am going to try a Hoover and see how it compares.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great....ONCE!, August 12, 2007
I was so excited to get this machine, & very happy with the results of first time use. However, the SECOND time we tried to use it, it no longer worked! It will spray water out of the hose attachment, but not from the main section of the machine to the floor. I used the manual to troble-shoot & everything we checked came up fine. But still no spray! Consequently, I was on my hands and knees, trying to spot clean entire rooms with the small hose attachment (meant for upholstery), then standing up to use the main part of the machine to suction the water back up. Ridiculous! I definitely would NOT recommend this model.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whats all the complaining, November 27, 2008

This review is from: Yh Lh Bissell Pro-heat Clear V (Kitchen)
I bought the Bissel Proheat Clearview in 2001 and have been using it about six times a year since then for an entire house cleaning and about twice each month for some spot cleanings because we have a dog. I've been satisfied with the product. I don't understand all the complaints. It does stop sucking up water occasionally but all I have to do is take the water tank, remove the little red filter and clean it off and I'm back in business. My brushes have never stopped working. I do clean them occasionally. The only real problem that has developed in the last couple years is that if I shut it off and leave it sit somewhere for a few minutes, it does leak a bit. Not a big problem. I just turn it back on and suck up the leak. I imagine the gaskets are going bad from age and use. I'm sure some of these problems are legitimate but after reading bad reviews on many other products that I've purchased that have been great products, I have to wonder if people actually read the owner/instruction manuals that come with products.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for maybe 2 years, December 4, 2007

Bought this at the end of 2004 when got our puppy and it worked great until the past year. It broke for some reason and we had to have it repaired; it cost $70 and it has never been the same since. Recently, it has stopped sucking the water back up - I start with a full container of water and empty less than half of a container when I'm finished. Also, the shampoo intermittently comes out. Once, I started the machine and it all came out at once and made a horrible mess. Other times, I can do two rooms and still have over half a container left, which is abnormal. For the first two years we owned this I raved about it to my friends and family; my parents even bought the same one because of my reviews and are now having the same problems. So if you're looking for something to work for a short time this is the product for you; if you're looking for something you can depend on for years to come go with another brand.

1.0 out of 5 stars Problem after problem........, June 13, 2007
Along with other reviewers it worked well for a couple of months. I took the first one back to WalMart when it stopped sucking water and exchanged it for another of the same. Now three months later, the brush has stopped turning (the belt is not broken). It stops sucking water halfway thru the cleaning, etc... Just not worth it. Go with another brand.

I have a small Bissel that works well, but wanted something a little stronger with the stair and upholstery tools. This is my 4th rug cleaner, and by far the worst I have ever owned. Same problems as others- no suction, spray turns off for no reason, etc.
