5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful, 5 stars, no doubt!
A Smart Girl's Guide To Sticky Situations is the best book I have ever owned. It actually talks about the things that girl pre-teens and girl teenagers have to go through when they are becoming a "woman" over time. This book really helped me in all topics. It helped me with periods the most...which is about the most confusing thing once teenagers know about what it is,...

Before your young lady starts Junior High School please add this litle book to her library. This books offers answers to the preteen on handling situations that could be potentially embarrassing. This book will help your child develop more self-assurance.

A Smart Girl's Guide To Sticky Situations is the best book I have ever owned. It actually talks about the things that girl pre-teens and girl teenagers have to go through when they are becoming a "woman" over time. This book really helped me in all topics. It helped me with periods the most...which is about the most confusing thing once teenagers know about what it is, how it works, what to do, and most of all how to protect.

This book doesn't help with just periods. It helps with things that are very embarrissing (spelling check?), tips when getting lost, how to avoid dangerous things, dealing with rumors, and so, so much more!

I'm sure that everyone that bought this book, will have no questions at the end. This book has everything you need to know!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick Read, June 16, 2006
This review is from: Yikes! A Smart Girl's Guide To Surviving Tricky, Sticky, Icky Situations (Paperback)
I bought this for my 13 year old daughter. She opened the book, read what interested her and never touched the book again. Although she did state the advice was good and mostly common sense. I sat and read it cover to cover and did realize most everything is common sense placed in a cute format. It is a very quick and entertaining read (silly illustrations). I would purchase this for a pre-teen not a know-it-all teen. Suggested age 9-12.

Very fun book. Purchased it for my 10 year old niece. Couple of surprising write ups on what to do if your period bleeds through your clothes and what do to if a tampon falls out of your backpack at school. Wasn't quite expecting that. As long as the young lady has had "the chat" with an adult, this is a great book filled with fun, light-hearted advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good sense! Don't leave home without it!, October 11, 2007

This review is from: Yikes! A Smart Girl's Guide To Surviving Tricky, Sticky, Icky Situations (Paperback)
A Smart Girl's Guide to Sticky Situations is an absolutely wonderful book for preteens about some of the weird situations that people of any age can find themselves in. With very appealingly silly illustrations, the book covers the expected items like flunking a test, not getting picked for a team, looking goofy in photos, etc.

However, there are some serious situations that are beautifully handled. For example, information about what to do if you are separated from your family in the city could save a child's life. Knowing how to handle false accusations could save a child's sanity!

Little sidebars called "Disaster Blasters" provide information to prevent all manner of inconvenience, embarrassment and grief! While some reviewers have stated that this is merely a compilation of common sense, keep in mind that maturity comes with age and experience, and this book is aimed at a very young audience.

I really do wish that I had this book, myself, many years ago, and I highly recommend it for any young lady in your family circle.

I enjoyed this book very much. It tells you what to do in a sticky event, such as having your period in public, finding a lost dog, falling down the stairs at school, and even more. I thought this book was very helpful. It presents information that is easy to understand and vital. My only complaint (and the reason why I rated this book four stars) is that I felt the book as a little too short. I would have liked for their to be more sticky events, and what do in them. Otherwise, a fantastic, great book.

I loved this book because when I would worry about things happening to me at school, like falling down the stairs and other embarrassing things, I would pick up this book and after I finished it I felt much better! I suggest this book to girls from the age of 8 to even 17!!

What do you do if you get separated from your parents in a big city? What if your BFF tells EVERYONE in the whole school who you like? What if you forget your lines on the big opening night of a play? Yikes has the answers to these problems and much more. It gives helpful advice and ways to prevent bad things from happening, but it's also fun to read. I love this book and hope that you will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great laugh for grown ups, May 27, 2005
As an adult I picked this up for my teen daughter and read through it and laughed and truly valued the advice within and wished I had it when I was a teen. Also a lot of this advice will work for any age. I loved the advice for falling down the stairs.
