5.0 out of 5 stars fun game, great replay value July 14, 2013
Verified Purchase
This is a jumper style game, where your goal is to have the monkey bounce on the vines to collect gems, bananas, or complete certain goals (like to get to the finish line without getting stung) in a certain amount of time. If you don't like playing on a timer, I'd just recommend playing on gem quest, as you're not timed on those levels. There's also two other categories to play: totem trial and quick play (which unlocks after you begin playing--I think after totem as I only then realized there was a new category). The main difference between gem and totem besides the timer is the "main" goal of gem is to collect all five gems and in totem, you have five "trials" to complete in order to gain a circle of the totem pole.

There are also more monkeys for you to unlock, which become unlocked as you play. There's also different "abilities" to help you that can be bought with banana points. The points are pretty easy to gain (not too easy, but not hard), which you can gain them from just collecting them on the way in gem quest, from collecting in totem after completing each trial (more if you beat them in a timely manner), or from playing quick play.

The controls are simple, you just touch the monkey and move your finger backward (this is how far/high the monkey will go) and you move your finger in the direction you want the monkey to go. Lucky for me, there's an arrow that helps guide you (I probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere in totem without it). The graphics are wonderful and the sounds are nice though a bit too much even on medium sound (what my kindle is normally set on)--a plus, though, there's a volume bar in the options for the music and sound.

Overall, a great game and fun way to pass time. If you like playing games with replay value, this one won't let you down. I think this game would be great for children as well (maybe a bit hard for very young children). For $1, this game is well worth it and I'd definitely recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game for All Ages With ZERO Permissions!! July 14, 2013

This is a fun little game with an adorable little monkey and other bright colorful characters. The cartoonish graphics will entice any young child but as an adult, even I found myself easily getting caught up in the game.

With its easy to-learn-game play that does not become overly frustrating, the vivid high definition characters and scenery, and not a single permission required, I recommend checking this one out.... especially if you have kids....or....if, you're young at heart! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Monkey Business July 14, 2013

"Chimpact" is an enjoyable app full of simply delightful monkey business. :) The graphics are incredible and very colorful, and the jungle is simply a huge playground. The sling action is fun, and the player can see the path of the previous attempt so that adjustments can be made more easily. The monkey rolls up into a ball when he falls, and stays curled up until he lands safely, so there isn't a lot of violence or death in this game.

Jumping and sailing through the air as my monkey climbs higher and higher in the trees, and picking up bananas along the way, tickles my funny bone. Picking up gems and racing against alarm clocks, etc., are somewhat strange goals that don't seem to fit in with the jungle theme, but they provided a challenge and helped to keep my monkey from falling asleep.

The default settings on the music and sounds are too loud. However, they are adjustable, and the music volume can be adjusted separately from the other sound effects, which was a nice touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of things to do for only $1 July 11, 2013
By Strider
Chimpact is easy to pick up and hard to put down. In the style of Donkey Kong Country, the environments are beautifully rendered and definitely portray a lush tropical land. There are also a river themed world, a swamp themed world, and a ruin themed world, each with 12 levels. After I beat the first style of gameplay, where you hunt for gems, I thought "Is that it?". OH NO IT ISN'T! You play the 4 worlds over again, but this time, each level has 5 different objectives. I enjoyed the gem game, but this objective-based style of gameplay, the "totem quest", was A BLAST.

As you play, you can collect bananas that you can use for power ups. These are NOT in-app purchases, thank goodness! There are 8 different powerups that are all fairly useful; I got by with just getting one that allowed me to blast through barriers (bird nests) easier. You can also choose from 4 different chimps, at no banana cost whatsoever, which I liked (if it doesn't enhance gameplay, it shouldn't cost me anything, no?).

One small complaint is that the "camera" sometimes puts the slingshot where you're going to launch the chimp really low, and it is hard to pull it all the way back without your finger going off the screen. This is remedied by just manually adjusting the camera before you shoot, but that costs time, and some of the totem missions are timed, so that can be nerve racking. Another small complaint I have is that, for a couple of levels, the objectives in the totem quest seemed almost impossible to find. They don't have to be linear like the gem quests, which is normally a positive, but there were a few times where I had absolutely no idea what to do next after playing the level 20 times over and getting stuck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! August 30, 2013

This has been one of the very few games that I have found myself playing over & over again. Yes,after excessive play titime I have over done it but after some time away I am back at it. Each level is different with the same main objective. As you get into the higher levels there are more obstacles increasing the difficulty. When you play you have to find diamonds for extra points. You don't need them to complete the game but it's fun to go back & find them all. There's also quick plays with a single objective during a specific time frame.

I didn't have to be signed in to Amazon or connected to the internet to play. I did have to to be able to download the game initially as with everyone else. DUH! As well, I have never o crap received a notification from this app so I don't believe the single review that says it. I bet my life that they had another app installed that is spamming them.
