YO CANTO, great song,
By SSY29 "Sam" (Canada-Peru) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yo Canto (Audio CD)
I am a Pausini fan since she sang La Solitudine and was heard in many continents. This album, is different, a compilation of italian writers and singers so it is not her own composition but her own way of singing them. The strongest song in the album is YO CANTO. I had only heard it after I bought the cd and it was very impressive, strong vocals as usual, soft, no more loud screams, it all comes out naturally for Laura now since her last two albums, LO MEJOR DE...LAURA PAUSINI in 2000 and ESCUCHA en 2005. Escucha was definitely a success for Laura, she won the Grammy, composed the songs at a difficult period in her life, so she puts all her emotions, anger, and hope into the cd. For me, the strong tracks on YO CANTO is this same song, Dos, and Estrella Gemela, who Eros Ramazzotti has a great version of it long before but Laura gives it a new smooth spin which is very nice to listen to. Melancholic.Enjoy it. Laura always gives her best.

NICE ALBUM,
By Music Fan "Marce" (Argentina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yo Canto (Audio CD)
I have to say that this album, although is very good and some songs are very catchy, it's not so strong as her previous album "Escucha". The best songs in my opinion are "Estrella gemela", "Mi canto libre" y "Corazón fragil" and the closing track "Por el camino". Still it's a worthy album, and it deserves to be heard, but I think that "Escucha" is slightly better and more consistent.

Sharing Italian Music with the World,
By M Cañas "mirripuy" (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yo Canto (Audio CD)
In this CD Laura Pausini performs songs from a variety of Italian singer-songwriters. She ads her personal touch to all of them, of course. The results are lovely and inspired. A lot of the songs already had versions in castellano, but Laura and her team have written new Spanish lyrics to some of them. All of these songs were made famous by their creators. Most of the songs are ballads, but there are some midtempo tracks in the title track, "Dos" (Due, by Raf) and "Estrella gemela" (by Eros Ramazzotti), and danceable pop in "Mi banda toca rock." I don't know about the comment from the reviewers below about "Mi banda toca rock" as Menudo song (a horrible thought to some of us!), but the original Italian version was fun. It's not a bubblegum song, but about the combination of traditional Latin music (Latin in the original sense, all the musical varieties of romance-language speakers) and rock music, something that was starting to happen when the song was written. This reminds me that someone was commenting that one of the songs had some sections in English. I believe they are wrong about the song. "Estrella gemela" has some sections in English, but that is the way it was originally written and performed by Eros Ramazzotti (in Italian and Spanish), to emphasize the influence of African-American gospel music in the song. Laura also references this influence by using gospel chords at the start of the song. All in all, this is a great album, so give it a shot. Whether you speak the language or not, the Italian version of the album is even better. Laura just keeps getting better with time! Laura sei bravissima!

Nice!,
This review is from: Yo Canto (Audio CD)
Laura is one of my favorite singers ever! her voice is sweet. The song Yo canto is really nice and It has other Famous italian songs like "No me lo puedo explicar" that Tiziano Ferro sang in 2004. UPDATE: WOW!. The biggest surprise was finding in this album the song "Y mi banda toca elock" that MENUDO(An ugly old music group) sang in the 80's. Now Laura makes this song decent and good

This is a great album of her. Some songs I heard them before and she made great versions of them. I personally think "Escucha" was better, but this still is a great great album.

Once again Laura shows what she's made of. The CD, as usual, have these very romantic "corta venas" songs. She sings with Tiziano Ferro a song that I personally love, "No me lo puedo explicar". She sings "Y mi banda toca rock", made famous by the MENUDO, a Puerto Rican boy band that was one of the biggest teen music acts during the 1980s and 1990s. With this song, she adds some flavor to the CD. "Escribeme" is another song that I like...Well I've been listening to it again and again, and when you think she can't do any better after releasing "Escucha", she shows you wrong! I highly recommend this CD!!!

I don't know where to begin, there's so many good things to say about this CD, I'll resume all saying that Laura's voice is impeccable as always, the sound of the instruments are so well equalized that you can feel you are right in the middle of the band, hearing this CD I wished there was 5.1 surround sound cds, because the experience would be unforgetable, If you heard Laura's music before you are used to the best of the best, this CD is no exception, and let's be honest you can't expect less from Laura.I didn't like the songs "Estrella Gemella" y "No me lo puedo explicar" sung by Eros and Tiziano respectively, but after listening to them from Laura, I realized what they meant. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD TO ANYONE WHO LOVES TO HEAR HIGH QUALITY MUSIC.

One Of The Best Albums Of The Year,
By
This review is from: Yo Canto (Audio CD)
Both the Italian version (Io Canto) and the Spanish version (Yo Canto) are excellent, and amongst the best albums that I have heard this past year. The music is absolutely beautiful, fresh, and very well paced, and Laura's voice is soaring! The quality of this album is exceptional....the production of the songs lends to Laura's very passionate approach to them. Without understanding a word of either version, I cannot get enough of them! Listening to Laura on this latest release of hers over and over again, each song continues to grow on me and I find myself completely absorbed in this album! Do yourself a favor and get this one....especially if you live in the United States. It will give you an opportunity to experience the power of what music can be if done right. You'll find yourself relating to words you don't even understand!

A truly great listening experience! I enjoy listening to her versatility in this cd. I especially enjoyed the duets she did with singers Juanes and Tiziano Ferro. I look forward to buying more of her music. Im certain they will become classics in the future.

Laura Pausini did it again. This CD is somewhat different than her previous CDs. On this CD Laura works with Juanes and added a rock flavor to her usual pop-flavor style. I will say Laura's voice shines in these songs. One of these songs, "Cinco dias", which was recorded by Amanda Miguel a while back sounds beautiful. Complimenting Amanda Miguel's version. I wasn't aware this song had been translated into Spanish from Italian. The only song that I don't really like very much is "Y mi banda toca el rock." While I love Laura's voice, this song stands out as sore thumb because of its simple, bubble-gum lyrics. Anothers song I wanted to comment on was "Mi libre cancion." This song is in Spanish but 1/2 way through the chorus you can hear Laura's voice in the background but in English. It sounds fine but it almost doesn't go with the song. Otherwise, this CD is excellent. When you play this CD you forget about this not-so good song. Another thing I discovered while playing this CD on my computer was that it was missing the Artist's name title and song titles. I'm not sure if this was just my CD or if all CDs were manufatured this way. I think Laura Pausini is too much of superstar for Warner Music Latina not to have added her name and her songs to the CDs. If anyone else notices this, please comment here so I can find out if this was just my CD.Overall, I highly recommend you to buy this CD. You won't be disappointed. |
