El joven Juan de Dios y el Cuervo, amigos de cantina, van al pueblo de Juan, que está de feria. A Juan lo reciben su hermano Jorge, recibido de médico en la capital, y su padre don Armando, que no reconoce a su hijo mayor por no haberlo visto en mucho tiempo. Juan ve un escapulario en la iglesia y recuerda la noche en que Jorge y él, al salir de la iglesia, vieron a su madre atropellada y muerta por borrachos que se enfrentaban en una carrera de caballos. Los hermanos juraron vengar a su madre, pero Jorge ya no tiene sed de venganza y los hermanos riñen. Borracho y acompañado por el Cuervo, Juan va a la fiesta de cumpleaños de Susana, la novia de Jorge y se enamora de ella. Juan tendrá que decidir si se enfrenta a su propia sangre por el amor de una mujer o si se va resignado fuera del pueblo. Young Juan, accompanied by a drinking buddy, returns to his small town home. He is received by his younger brother Jorge, who is now a doctor, and his father, who does not recognize him because of his long absence. Juan visits the local church and recalls the night that he and Jorge, leaving the church, saw their mother run down and killed by a couple of drunken men racing their horses. The brothers swore to avenge their mother, but Jorge has lost his thirst for vengeance and the brothers quarrel. Juan and his buddy get drunk and go to a party in honor of Susana, Jorge’s girlfriend. Juan falls for Susana and will have to decide whether to fight his own brother for the love of a woman or leave town quietly.
