5.0 out of 5 stars Yo-Yo Raider Gift Box
I ordered this yoyo a while back from Amazon.com. It took a little longer then I had expected but that was okay. Also the condition was excellent when I got it, no scratches or anything. I didn't like that the package was not very big, but the box was. I didn't like that you couldn't choose your color either (I preferred the gold on that picture up front, mine was...

3.0 out of 5 stars There's better.
The Yomega Raider will feel like a great yoyo if Yomega is all you've ever known. However, there are better yoyo's in the $10-$20 price range. The best overall beginner yoyo is the YoYoFactory FAST 201. It's a ball bearing yoyo with an adjustable string gap, what more do you want for $9.99? If you like looping, check out the YoYoFactory Loop 720 or the YoYoJam Sunset...

I ordered this yoyo a while back from Amazon.com. It took a little longer then I had expected but that was okay. Also the condition was excellent when I got it, no scratches or anything. I didn't like that the package was not very big, but the box was. I didn't like that you couldn't choose your color either (I preferred the gold on that picture up front, mine was red). The body is really strong so if you drop it or something like that, you only get a small scratch (I know this because I accidently whammed it on my granite counter top in the kitchen).

I forgot to look if it was a roller bearing or a ball bearing (can't really tell unless you look) so I was blind sited by this great yoyo. When I got it I pulled it right out of the box and it was ready to go with no assembly required, yay! I enjoyed how smoothly it moved up and down and how fast and slick it was. Also it is great for using the sleeper, so great it makes other companies look like crap. I once got it to spin for almost 45 seconds, my arm was tired. Overall this yoyo is great and I think any intermediate "yoyoist" would love this yoyo.

Now for the cons. When you use it the string you put your finger in is kind of rough and makes your finger puffy after a period of time. The string tends to unwind and spin out when the yoyo reaches the bottom. Its also hard to do 12 round the worlds at once because the speed you do it at makes it spin out. When you do some hard tricks where the yoyo spins fast for long periods of time, the yoyo itself will become loose and fall apart. I didn't have this happen that much, especially when I tightened it really good, but you probably should check now and then for that "loosy goosy" feel.

I absolutely enjoyed yoyo and wouldn't get another for a long time and I highly recommended this to almost anybody. :)

This is just an all around great yo-yo. simple as that. It took me a little while to get used to it, but once I got the hang of it, it really performed well. Personally I think that yo-yo's like this are better than the ones that have the auto-return function (those are for cheaters anyway) because these will sleep for a lot longer. the bearing inside really makes a difference as well. What I didn't expect was how light the yo-yo really is, but even if you prefer a little weight (as I tend to) it still will surpass your expectations. If you are past the beginner levels of yo-yo'ing, then I would definitely recommend this to you!

It's the best, that's all. The Fire Ball is cheaper but not a great as The Raider. Just get this one, it makes Duncan look like a joke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good All Around Yo-Yo, November 4, 2009

The Raider is a very good all around yo-yo. It can perform most spinning and string tricks very well. It's not a great looper because of it's wider gap and weight. I have about 4 dozen yo-yos and use certain ones for certain types of tricks, but the Raider is nice for less serious and relaxing play because you can perform a variety of tricks with it without switching to other yo-yos. It's made in the USA, solidly built and has a good feel in you hand.

Bought it for my 13 yo son, who had almost reached the limit with his previous yo-yo. Very pleased with the sleeper capabilities and it allowed him to do several tricks that he had not been able to master.

It's worth noting that this modification risks cracking the yoyo. If you like string tricks, check out the YoYoJam Lyn Fury, or the YoYoFactory Precedent.
