5.0 out of 5 stars Yodelling is great
Wow! I have never heard yodelling this good, I mean, most yodelling is so-so; not bad, just weird, like swedish meatballs.

This is something entirely different, its a yodelling masterpiece of epic proportions, it made me laugh and cry in the SAME SONG!

Uh-ah-uh-ay-uh-ay-uh-ay-uh-ay-I give it a big FIVE STARS!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much yodeling??!!
I never thought I'd say it, but there is such a thing as too much yodeling on one CD. Ranger Doug and the boys are fantastic yodelers, but the selection on this CD just gets a little bit repetitive after a while. Sorry, saddle pals, but I prefer it when you mix things up a little more, as on "Harmony Ranch" or "Horse Opera."

Note this CD is a...

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this CD!, January 5, 2001
By
This review is from: Yodel the Cowboy Way (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD because I'd always liked "cowboy" music when I heard it on TV shows, but I'd never gone so far as to purchase any. This was my first CD of "cowboy" music, and it turned out to be a fine one. Oddly, my 10 month old son loves it too and we often play it as we're putting him to bed. It's funny, but he'll stop crying so as to not miss any of these songs! I was talking to some other parents about the way our son likes this CD and it turns out we're not alone. One parent told of their sons love affair with yodeling for the past two years--who'd have thought it!

Ranger Doug is the best yodeler you will ever want to hear, and YES you DO want to hear it! These guys have had loyal fans for over 20 years. Give this album a listen and find out why. You too will be hooked. Don't be afraid!

5.0 out of 5 stars not that much yodeling, December 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Yodel the Cowboy Way (Audio CD)
This is a great cd. I bought it at a store a couple of years ago and it is top quality. There is not that much yodeling in it, but there is yodeling. They hit every note and the music quality and beat are great. I played it for my wife on a trip and she kind of liked it. (she is mostly a pop tune listener). If you like "western" music this is a great cd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for "Back in the Sadle Again", June 29, 2005
This review is from: Yodel the Cowboy Way (Audio CD)
I was (and still am) a Gene Autry fan, with his soothing mellow voice and easy manner that managed to vanquish everything from train robbers to mole men (really).

But like most things from your childhood, he really isn't as good as your memory suggests when you revist him. Which is where the Riders come in ...

"Back in the Saddle Again" on this album is done the in the polished, rich and mellifluous way that Gene Autry should have done it. It's worth the album for this one track alone.

The rest of the album is also very good, if a tad repetitive. The Riders have the polish that the old cowboy singers lacked. What they seem to lack in this album is immagination.

But it's purty music just the same.

It's pretty simple: You like Riders in the Sky, or you don't. I do. I like 'em a lot. I like this CD a lot. (So does my 8 year old nephew!) The only thing keeping this CD from getting 5 stars is the same thing that keeps all Riders in the Sky CDs from getting 5 stars: playing time. I don't have the CD in front of me, but total playing time is right around 30-35 minutes, just like every other Riders in the Sky CD I own. But, they're all priced pretty low, so it's not like you're getting ripped off or anything.

In summary: little-old-lady-who?

Ever since I was a kid I would watch these movies and t.v. shows that had cowboys in them. They would have a buckaroo or two just yodeling away!Well, since I've gone back to my western roots(I'm from Texas),I decided to buy this cd.Riders in the sky really make this cd fun to listen to."How the yodel was born" will make you laugh.the lyrcs alone are enough to do that!"Here comes the Santa Fe" is another great one, these guys know just when to insert the yodeling into these songs!"desert Serenade" is quiet possibly my favorite.Listen to it and you'll hear why.You will find yourself either yodeling OR trying to yodel along with Riders in the sky!You might even enjoy it enough to make it a family affair!
