U 2 Can Yodel

I don't even remember why I wanted to learn how to yodel, but now that I can do it fairly well, I wouldn't trade it for anything (well, maybe for a few things). It is such a freeing activity...and, surprisingly, people like to listen (it's the perfect "random talent" to have). I work with kids at my church, and almost every Sunday one of them will ask me to yodel.

I was a bit skeptical about the prospects of learning from a CD, but it has worked quite well. I listened to it a lot driving across country last summer, just singing back the exercises, and by the time I finished my road trip, I could break my voice with ease, and I was already able to do some of the simpler yodels with some measure of competency.

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to release some stress and learn a new talent...you can't take yourself too seriously when you're yodeling. It's guaranteed to make you smile!

A friend and I were traveling north and we listened to Bluegrass, Jeff Foxworthy, and other "interesting" genres. The last 2 hours of the trip Sarah said, I have a CD I think you'll like (or that she wanted us to listen to). Ok. (It's her car!)

I was driving the last leg and I'm focusing on the highway and ... someone is yodeling like a chicken... I'm pretty sure my mouth was gaping for 10--15 seconds and I looked over at Sarah...and started laughing. She told me when she was younger her family was listening to the radio and she and a couple of her brothers and sisters would sit for hours trying to yodel with the radio. Her mother just bought the cd for her and so we listened to ALLLLLL of it. Every lesson. Just when you think there can't be one more thing to learn, there is!

It was THE BEST part of the trip. We turned it up as we went through the toll booths and told the attendants, "At least we're not drunk!"

I told the story to a family I know who has Norwegian roots and the mother said, "I was the family yodeler!" I'm buying this cd for myself, to remember the fun I had and buying one as a gift for this family.

If you need a good laugh, I'd say this is it. Also, I guess if you REALLY want to learn how to yodel, it seemed to be pretty good at that too. Our throats were a tad...stressed after 2 hours (I'm pretty sure I asked her to play "the chicken man yodel" about 10 times at least.

This is a great way to get started yodeling. If you really work at it, you will learn the secret joy and tranquility that comes with the territory. But be forewarned: it doesn't come easy, and in your early efforts, work at it some place in private. Your friends and loved ones will appreciate it. Come out in public when you can make some good music. And if you can make yodel music as good as this guy, I want to hear it!

This is a fun CD. I can't say I have mastered yodel skills yet as I have just begun the lessons and can only practice as long as the kids will let me while we drive down the road.

Here is what you need to know before you buy this CD. It is almost imperative that you have a place to practice alone and undisturbed. And it takes practice.

But so far, I haven't found it impossible or too difficult that I want to quit. It is a fun skill to learn. I hope that someday someone will be asking me to yodel too.

I have always wanted to learn to yodel, and Kerry's how to did it! I am now a great showerroom yodeler. The step by step lessons really work, and its is fun. And when I get home I feel great, it releases tension from the day. For a professional to teach others his art is the measure of the individual. Thank you, and this is really a great album.

The more you practice the fewer friends you will have . . . just kidding. This CD is 100% priceless for securing guaranteed, uninterrupted private time for yourself. Your spouse will stop nagging you, this is a certainty. Plus, YOU WILL LEARN TO YODDLE! Purchase some Veronika Lenz and Franzl Lang CDs and you are set to the max.

When I think "Western Yodeling", I think Elton Britt and Wilf Carter. When I think "Alpine Yodeling", I think "Stefanie Hertl". But Kerry Christensen bridges all genres and is not only the undisputed master of the art, he has brought a previously arcane and incomprehensible skill within the reach of anyone with the will to learn and a private place to practice. After 15 years of abusing the inside of my car as I drove to work and back, I have become a passable yodeler, and I'm here to tell you that the German "Jauchsen", meaning "to cheer" is really what yodeling is all about. It's fun, it's stress-relieving, and it's a great way to drive away the blues. If you've ever wanted to learn how to Yodel, this is the album for you.

This CD is very fun to listen to. Mr. Christensen has a lovely singing voice and is very talented and diverse in his yodeling. As a professional yodeler myself, it is easy to see his talent and admire his abilities.

Well organized, well-paced progressive lessons, fun format.
