This video is the same as "Yoga Remedies for Balance." That's all :)

Gaiam/Living Arts -- a mixed bag, February 21, 2003

A hearty warning for yoga novices -- after several purchases of their yoga and pilates programs all I can say is that you never can tell what you're going to get from the Gaiam/Living Arts folks until you stick that VHS or DVD into your machine. However, you can count on beautiful locations (Hawaii, Arizona, a creek, some trees, the beach and a nice sunset...) Don't let yoga-snots discourage you from looking for tapes that have lots of instructions. Not everyone has a yoga studio in town and frankly, it takes time to find a good teacher. Gaiam/Living Arts has a strong collection, but the formats are across the board. If you liked the Deason/weight loss and want more 'indepth' style programs, Patricia Walden's "Yoga Basics II" is quite good -- same background as Deason's interms of Iyengar training. Same collection of standing poses, but she goes further into the restorative poses and the uses of props. Yes, 'conditioning for women' is very different than the weight loss program. Its harder and there's no time to think about alignment but the tape is worthwhile if you are serious about your yoga practice and you want a new challenge.

great!!! ..... but not for all levels, January 27, 2004

This review is from: Yoga Conditioning for Women [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a really beautiful and flowing yoga workout, but needs a disclaimer: the box says "all levels", but it really should say "intermediate". Deason gives no verbal instruction on how to attain or refine the poses, and the modifications given at the end are just pictures of deason in the poses, again no verbal instructions. Thus, this really isn't a video for all levels. However, if you already know the basic poses, or don't mind spending the time on pause-rewind to figure them out from watching Deason, then this is a great practice. If you like to hold each pose for a long time, to really sink into it, then this is not the video for you. But if you want to move through poses in a peaceful yet challenging flow, this is the perfect video for you. Deason's poise and flexibility are inspiring. My only complaint is that Deason times the transitions to her breath, so if you aren't breathing at the same pace as she, you might have a hard time keeping up (I always seem to be inhaling when she says exhale and move, and by the time I get to exhale and move, she's moved on to something else).
