Book Description

April 1, 2007
Women and men alike can reclaim their face with The Yoga Facelift, an exercise, energetics, and meditation program specifically designed by Marie-Véronique Nadeau for the most prominent feature of the body. We are inundated with exercise programs to tone abs, biceps, triceps, and insteps, but none to exercise and maintain the most hardworking set of muscles in our entire body, the face! Nadeau has devised a holistic method for ridding the face of frown lines, reducing extra chins, and eradicating chicken neck. Her book is filled with useful charts, instructive photographs, and simple and natural exercises that readers can do in just five or ten minutes every day while waiting in traffic, talking on the phone, or working in front of the computer, all the while taking years off their face. Forget BOTOX. Don't even think of invasive and potentially dangerous plastic surgeries. Ditch the collagen. And enter the stress-free, effective world of Nadeau's restorative yoga therapy. The Yoga Facelift will enhance inner and outer beauty and help you to put your best face forward! Gorgeous black-and-white photographs accompany each yoga pose.

More About the Author

Born in Lansing, MI, grew up in California in the fifties and lived in Berkeley in the sixties, arguably one of the best places and times to be young and passionate. Still live in Berkeley, surrounded by magic, though its temperature has cooled off a bit.
Checkered career: high-school chemistry teacher before moving to Hungary and France. Lived there for a few years as a struggling novelist,(while teaching English of course) then came back to write Memoirs of an Ex-expatriate. Struggled to get that published, gave up, became gainfully employed as a tech writer. Became a formulator of skin care products when my rosacea started to get out of control. That "hobby" grew into Marie-Veronique Skin Therapy--the products therein actually work very well for sensitive, aging, acne, and rosacea type conditions. Products are for sale in stores and online at www.organicskintherapy.com. Wrote the Yoga Facelift because I think Yoga techniques can be used to great effect from the neck up to counteract the ravages of time, especially sagging. Since it seemed no one had done work in this direction I took it upon myself to fill in the gap. As with my prodcuts, I found that my efforts have produced very gratifying results.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs better instruction, June 25, 2007
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
Although the book has good information and intentions, which is what I mainly give my stars for, I find that the instructions and photos are wanting in many places. For a little example, one exercise says 'smile without smiling' and shows photos of a woman with a rather blank staring expression; I really could not 'get' what exactly to do there or how it should feel. In going through the book I found myself unsure if I was doing things correctly and I really think that some more detailed descriptions and additional photos (maybe with arrows indicating movement on them or something) would help.

Really, I am not a dummy when it comes to this sort of thing and understanding movement, but I am disappointed and feel this book leaves room for improvement. It actually would be better overall as a book with an instructional DVD since seeing the motion all the way through would be a huge help.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed, July 30, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
Calgal's reviews says it all. I am glad I'm not the only one. I much prefer the Facercise book. I cannot believe the writer encourages headstand - a potentially dangerous exercise which I have never even tried, and I've been practicing yoga for about 12 years now. Granted, she shows a modification, but still encourages full headstand. Also, the pushing of her creams seems to my somewhat sceptical eye to be the main raison d'etre of the book. And I say this because there aren't many exercises here in the first place. Plus, what there is is poorly explained. Yes, I definitely prefer Facercise

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Natural Face Lift and More, May 1, 2007
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)

I am a holistic registered nurse who has tried some other facial exercises in the past but never knew the muscle structures behind the exercises which are explained in this book. The authors'careful study of the muscles makes these exercises superior. The information in the book on skin aging mechanisms, nutrition and supplementation was very informative and was information that I was not familiar with. I have been happily using the Marie Veronique skin therapy products covered in the book for some time which are so natural you could eat them! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marie, for this excellent book!
