5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Natural Face Lift and More
I am a holistic registered nurse who has tried some other facial exercises in the past but never knew the muscle structures behind the exercises which are explained in this book. The authors'careful study of the muscles makes these exercises superior. The information in the book on skin aging mechanisms, nutrition and supplementation was very informative and was...

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs better instruction
Although the book has good information and intentions, which is what I mainly give my stars for, I find that the instructions and photos are wanting in many places. For a little example, one exercise says 'smile without smiling' and shows photos of a woman with a rather blank staring expression; I really could not 'get' what exactly to do there or how it should feel. 3.0 out of 5 stars Needs better instruction, June 25, 2007
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
Although the book has good information and intentions, which is what I mainly give my stars for, I find that the instructions and photos are wanting in many places. For a little example, one exercise says 'smile without smiling' and shows photos of a woman with a rather blank staring expression; I really could not 'get' what exactly to do there or how it should feel. In going through the book I found myself unsure if I was doing things correctly and I really think that some more detailed descriptions and additional photos (maybe with arrows indicating movement on them or something) would help.

Really, I am not a dummy when it comes to this sort of thing and understanding movement, but I am disappointed and feel this book leaves room for improvement. It actually would be better overall as a book with an instructional DVD since seeing the motion all the way through would be a huge help.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed, July 30, 2007

Calgal's reviews says it all. I am glad I'm not the only one. I much prefer the Facercise book. I cannot believe the writer encourages headstand - a potentially dangerous exercise which I have never even tried, and I've been practicing yoga for about 12 years now. Granted, she shows a modification, but still encourages full headstand. Also, the pushing of her creams seems to my somewhat sceptical eye to be the main raison d'etre of the book. And I say this because there aren't many exercises here in the first place. Plus, what there is is poorly explained. Yes, I definitely prefer Facercise

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Natural Face Lift and More, May 1, 2007

I am a holistic registered nurse who has tried some other facial exercises in the past but never knew the muscle structures behind the exercises which are explained in this book. The authors'careful study of the muscles makes these exercises superior. The information in the book on skin aging mechanisms, nutrition and supplementation was very informative and was information that I was not familiar with. I have been happily using the Marie Veronique skin therapy products covered in the book for some time which are so natural you could eat them! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marie, for this excellent book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yoga and Natural Beauty Come Full Circle, April 5, 2007
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
As an avid yoga enthusiast, I was very interested in "The Yoga Facelift" when a friend gave me a copy. The exercises are presented in a simple, straightforward manner and I don't need to go to a studio to do them. My problem was I had falling cheeks and now they are as firm as apples! The author also has a great philosophy on natural beauty and how we can best take care of ourselves. I now have my mom doing the exercises and she is noticing results.

4.0 out of 5 stars You will benefit, January 25, 2008

kmw (southeast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
This otherwise great book fails to get five stars for only 2 reasons: 1) the neck exercises didn't produce noticeable results for me personally (I'm going to try Carole Maggio's book for that reason alone); and 2)the author dismisses the importance of aerobic exercise, and in fact, calls it aging.

That may be true for aerobic enthusiasts who overdo it, but imho, it's a critical component of good health and looking youthful. I'm 47 and still get carded so I vouch for the importance of exercise.

Having said that, I started noticing areas of my face that I wasn't thrilled with. Lip lines that were getting worse rather than better, lines on the side of my nose, and upper lids that could use some lift.

Bam! Immediate improvement. I agree with some of the other reviewers: it's very cool to have full, voluptuous lips. My eye area is tighter, brighter (no crow's feet whatsoever, but in fairness, I didn't have that many to begin with) and my nose lines (from squinting) are gone. My cheeks are full and my jaw line is tighter.

Why my neck didn't reap the same benefits, I'm not sure. I've been doing these exercises since June 2007 and that area is the least improved.

Just my two cents, hope it helps.

This book was a big disappointment and I do not recommend it. Get it from the library if you are curious, but don't waste your money. I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars The lift everyone needs to get through the day!, April 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
Ladies and gents, the Yoga Facelift is an effective and invigorating way to stave off the effects of aging, daily. I've had lines on my forehead as long as I've had a forehead and only after reading the Yoga Facelift did I realize how much (and what kinds of) scowling I was doing. In a few minutes a day I can correct what I've caused over my lifetime and am enjoying a happier disposition because of it.

There's rumor that a DVD is coming out (on her yoga facelift site) - now that would be fantastic! In the meantime, I'll practice with the book. A few minutes of Yoga Facelift sprinkled throughout the day and I'm a happy clam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chins up!, April 3, 2007
By
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
This book gives us all an easy and effective way to address signs of aging in our faces. I had a chin issue (notice I said had), and after about two weeks of doing the chin exercises, I notice a big difference. I do them whenever I think about it; in the car, the elevator, watching a movie. This book is highly recommended. I also ordered her Serumdipity (Marie-Veronique Skin Therapy) for the face massage and some other products and my skin is truly glowing! Her book and skin care products are as close to the fountain of youth as you can get without surgery!

1.0 out of 5 stars A major letdown., June 24, 2008
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
I bought this book for someone who I know has a strong interest in this kind of thing, after reading the good reviews for it here, but I felt bad about giving it once I'd received it and had a chance to look inside.

The text was small and very faint, (if I recall correctly, a light mauve on a white background. - If I'm wrong then hopefully someone will correct me) and the pictures inside were all in black and white and not easy to see what one had to do. The main thing that came across to me though is that most of the models used looked young enough not to have to worry about doing facial yoga (presumably the book is aimed at people over a certain age whose faces have become old-looking in some way) and the older models looked old and not conducive to giving anyone confidence in the techniques being advocated, especially the author herself who looked her age and really one would have expected her to look a lot younger than her years if anyone is expected to have any faith in this technique.

The person I gave the book to, thanked me very much at the time, before looking at it, but has not mentioned it at all since, and this speaks volumes to me, as they normally would mention something they feel pleased with. All I can say to anyone thinking of purchasing this book, is try to get hold of a copy to look inside before you buy as it may not be what you are looking for. Quite apart from the disappointing content, the book was very cumbersome and awkward to hold owing to the shape and size of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'must' for any interested in retaining youthful looks., June 8, 2007
This review is from: The Yoga Facelift (Paperback)
THE YOGA FACELIFT: THE ALL-NATURAL, DO-IT-YOURSELF PROGRAM FOR LOOKING YOUNGER AND FEELING BETTER tells men and women both how to use yoga and meditation techniques designed by the author for tone the face. There are only a few competing titles on the market which discuss exercises for toning the face: this holistic method addresses frown lines, extra chins, 'chicken neck' and others, blending charts and step-by-step photos with easy exercises which can be done in just a few minutes a day without any special equipment or setting. A 'must' for any interested in retaining youthful looks.
