5.0 out of 5 stars A Recommendation from My Student with Fibromyalgia
I recommended Yoga for Fibromyalgia to one of my students. Even though she is already familiar with restorative yoga and how to use yoga props, she felt this book was very worthwhile, especially for her home practice. Here is what she said: "It's nice to see it all laid out and easy to follow. This book would be a benefit to any teachers with fibromites like me in their...

3.0 out of 5 stars difficult to do while reading a book
I applaud the concept of Yoga for Fibro. I can't seem to do the exercises without constantly referring to the book which kind of destroys the relaxation part of yoga. Wish there was a DVD or even a CD. It suggests that you record your own voice with the instructions, but who has a tape recorder these days? I would do much better listening to a soothing voice telling...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Recommendation from My Student with Fibromyalgia, April 22, 2008
This review is from: Yoga for Fibromyalgia: Move, Breathe, and Relax to Improve Your Quality of Life (Rodmell Press Yoga Shorts) (Paperback)
I recommended Yoga for Fibromyalgia to one of my students. Even though she is already familiar with restorative yoga and how to use yoga props, she felt this book was very worthwhile, especially for her home practice. Here is what she said: "It's nice to see it all laid out and easy to follow. This book would be a benefit to any teachers with fibromites like me in their classes. It also applies to anyone with a disease like FMS; arthritis, chronic fatigue, etc. I also like it for new people because it's written simply, easy to understand, short and concise. Some books are so long and have way too much info for people just starting out. Not to mention trying to read and understand when you are in a flare up with brain fog!"

Thank you, Shoosh Lettick Crotzer, for writing this helpful book!

I have really enjoyed this book. It doesn't require too much effort for those of us who are limited in our ability to move.

Wish there was a DVD or even a CD. It suggests that you record your own voice with the instructions, but who has a tape recorder these days? I would do much better listening to a soothing voice telling me what to do or focus on than listening to my own voice. Great idea, bad medium.

This book has easy to follow pictures of yoga poses along with text that helps to fine-tune the movements for individual activity levels. I've had Fibromyalgia for over 20 years and I find this book to be helpful for pain management and relaxation.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nicer place to begin, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Yoga for Fibromyalgia: Move, Breathe, and Relax to Improve Your Quality of Life (Rodmell Press Yoga Shorts) (Paperback)
This book is a nice place to begin for people with chronic pain. If you are new to yoga and feel intimidated by it do to chronic pain issues begin here. The author is no expert on Fibro, but the yoga poses and modifications are helpful.

3.0 out of 5 stars She lost me at the "What is Fibromyalgia" section, May 25, 2008
This review is from: Yoga for Fibromyalgia: Move, Breathe, and Relax to Improve Your Quality of Life (Rodmell Press Yoga Shorts) (Paperback)
In Part I the author says FM is a "arthritis-related condition." It's not. That's pretty well covered in the research conducted over the last few years. As a person living with FM and an advocate for awareness and continued research I have a hard time taking the rest of a book titled "Yoga for FM" that was just published this year seriously after that intro to the illness. As a yoga practitioner for 30 years, there's nothing dangerous for the PWF in this book. Good for the newcomer to yoga.
