Great tool for your yoga practice,
By Caldermobile (Huntsville, Alabama USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yoga: The Poetry of the Body: A 50-Card Practice Deck (Cards)
Rodney Yee's yoga card set is wonderful. Each of the cards (well made on thick, coated cardstock) has a wonderful, clear photograph of Mr. Yee in the pose, the name of the pose, recommended time for each pose, and a description/reminder of what one should be looking for in the pose. (Part of the "Feel" listing for Happy Baby Pose: "Keep your feet directly over your knees, and let them be awake and vibrant. Keep your chest broad...") The back of the card has a mediative quote. The cards are numbered and placed in order of groupings: preparatory, standing, twists, back bends, seated, forward bends, and restorative. The deck also includes suggested sequence cards for continuing your practice. The deck has been perfect for travel. While these cards are wonderful and easy enough for a beginner, I would encourage ANYONE beginning their yoga practice to seek out a class in their area. Taking classes with a qualified instructor (even if only a few) will help you greatly in your practice. Body awareness is a key to long, injury-free practice, and that 'understanding' is impossible to get from a dvd, book or card set. No matter what you age, size, or level of ability I encourage you to try yoga. It will change your life. Good Luck!

This deck has helped me stay with more yoga practice more than any other tool;more than videos, books, tapes. I can design a practice that is very short for busy days or an intensive practice when I have the time. I can also spend as much time on one asana as I like before moving on, a limitation of video tapes. I used this deck when I recently traveled to a third world country where electronic equipment was not available. The cards concept is a wonderful idea for any practice.

I love this deck. The descriptive saying were a nice tool to incorporate into my language during my classes to help my student feel a pose in a different way. Rodney's form is beautiful and inspirational. This deck was useful at the beginning in outlining my class, and memorizing the sanskrit names. I still like to thumb through to deck before class to remind me of a pose that I haven't taught in a while. I've now graduated to doing his videos to work on my own practice.

These cards are very well done and are a good way to have at least a photo of yoga poses. I'm a beginner and still need the reminder steps on how to do a pose and these cards do not have that. You have to look at Rodney Yee's pose and try and figure out how to get to the final part of the pose.

Good, but could have been better,

These are good, portable aids for beginners, but could be better. The selection of postures was decent, and he illustrates them well, but there must have been a better use for the back of the cards than all of that new-age fluff.

Rodney Yee is changing my life!,
This review is from: Yoga: The Poetry of the Body: A 50-Card Practice Deck (Cards)
I bought these cards just before Christmas, and started using them at the beginning of this month (January) Today is January 30th, and I am much more relaxed, flexible, and I have lost 15 POUNDS! Rodney Yee's Yoga plan within these cards is allowing me to have the much needed downtime I desire in the evening after my kids go to bed, as well as teaching me to breath and centralize myself to achieve peace. I feel great, and I am losing weight! Plus, added bonus, it iz AMAZING for my Fibromyalgia! I highly recommend these cards!! LOVE THEM!!!!

As a beginner yogini, these cards are a good start to practicing yoga on my own. I needed something to guide me when I am not able to attend a class. Some poses are too difficult for me however, there are enough cards in the deck to keep me limber and relaxed.

My Favorite Yogi In a Box,

I am using the cards in conjunction with the book while I learn more of Rodney Yee's unique explanations of the poses. I am thrilled to have both of these items at such a reduced cost. They add a great deal of richness to my life. As I become more familiar with his teachings, I'll be able to use the cards with more expertise in impromptu sessions.
As I meditate on Yee's teachings, my healing during yoga sessions is increased. There is a "presence" that I feel, as if I am in his studio and he is imparting his knowledge of anatomy to me.

I have been practicing yoga with several Rodney Yee DVDs and these cards help provide a greater understanding of the basic poses.

Wonderful big photos clear explanations and as it's not a book you don't need to worry of it flipping close on you. Exactly what I was looking for.
