Yoga for Pregnancy,
This review is from: Yoga for Pregnancy: Ninety-Two Safe, Gentle Stretches Appropriate for Pregnant Women & New Mothers (Plastic Comb)
As a prenatal yoga instructor I found this book very helpful in getting ideas for my classes. I love the fact that there is the symbols in the corner to show which positions are good for what trimester. This makes it easy for anyone to regulate which positions should be done. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out in yoga or who wants to stay fit and flexible throughout their pregnancy.

Easy to Follow,
This review is from: Yoga for Pregnancy: Ninety-Two Safe, Gentle Stretches Appropriate for Pregnant Women & New Mothers (Plastic Comb)
I know a lot of my friends or people I talk to about yoga have some fear about it being really hard. I've been doing it for about three years now and love it. It's not hard, you go at your own pace and you don't just sit there and meditate. It is mainly stretching and teaching you the proper way to breath. Yoga is great for everyone. I received this book from my yoga instructor to look over and I immediately got on Amazon and purchased it. It is very simple to follow and shows a large picture on each page so you can easily follow while doing poses. Each page contains a symbol indicating the number of trimesters suitable for each pose. At the end it gives you an example of a routine for each trimester. When you don't have a lot of time to watch a video or go to a class, this is a great book to use to fit your stretches into your day.

This book was helpful in letting me know which poses were still ok for me to do. It gave me options when my instructor was doing things that I could not do. What is with the updated front cover but the 80's photos on the inside?

Not for teachers,
This review is from: Yoga for Pregnancy: Ninety-Two Safe, Gentle Stretches Appropriate for Pregnant Women & New Mothers (Plastic Comb)
This is a handbook designed for students. I bought it to build my prenatal teaching library and am disappointed. The pictures are dated but the poses are classic. There are also poses for postnatal.

I like the organization of the book. I compared to others and I like this one better because it is clear and has good pictures. I am looking forward the post-partum exercises with the baby, the pictures look so fun and amazing!

This teacher is of Iyengar background. The photos are dated, but content is excellent.

I teach yoga, and had a 6month pregnant woman join my 2ndlevel class.
I wanted to be sure to treat her tenderly. This book does have suggested postures to use for prenatal, dividing them up into trimesters, but it was weak in theory. I was hoping to understand the theory behind why she should not lay on her right side, or why she should not lower her head below her heart. Overall, as long as you follow the photos, it appears to be safe.

As a childbirth educator, I bought this book with a great deal of enthusiasm, but found it a complete let down. Not only were the images black and white, the binding was haphazard and the content was very mediocre.

I used this book during my pregnancy in 1992 at age 42. My chiropracter at the time said he never saw a pregnant woman's spine in such great condition in my third trimester. Black and white pictures or not, theory missing or not, it's a safe practice for pregnant women.

Very easy to use and very gentle,

The Title is very apt. There are very good pictures and good instructions and the lay-out of the chapters makes it really easy to tailor make your own yoga session. Excellent resource, especially for Iyengar yoga students/teachers.
