Kimberlee Jensen Stedl founded Punk Rock Yoga® in 2003. Kimberlee first took up yoga in 1997 at the behest of a yoga teacher whose class followed the kickboxing class Kimberlee taught at a Seattle gym. She was instantly humbled and intrigued. Over the years, Kimberlee has tasted numerous flavors of yoga including Iyengar, vinyasa, Viniyoga, Bikram, and kundalini yoga. When she decided to pursue teaching, she achieved her Yoga Alliance 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher credentials through the YogaFit program. During her teacher training she began her study of yoga philosophy. As she continues to work on those principles she realizes she should wear a t-shirt saying, "Caution: evolving soul under construction. Beware of flying debris."
Before Kimberlee was introduced to yoga, she worked as a fitness instructor. She earned her group fitness instructor certification with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in 1992 and with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) in 2007. She has also offered fitness instructor continuing education courses accredited by both ACE and AFAA. She offers teacher training in her signature yoga and dance fusion style called Shake Rattle & Pose®. Kimberlee established 8th Element Yoga (www.8thElementYoga.com) in 2007 to support her diverse yoga interests.
Kimberlee has a bachelor's degree in Journalism, which has served her writing endeavors. She has co-authored two yoga books with her husband Todd: Yoga for Scuba Divers and their partner yoga book, Yoga with a Friend. Together, Kimberlee and Todd offer yoga and scuba diving retreats. Of course, their biggest co-creation is their son Ivan, born in 2008--an event which taught Kimberlee the true meaning of radical transformation.
