Amazing music,

I just borrowed this set of Cd and I was amazed at what I found here. Not only are these great collections of differente types of Hindu music and chants, they also serve as great meditation tools. Just play the songs and relax. I use them while driving and it helps. Russill Paul created these cd's with muscicians from India, taking his time on every production. Each song is more a chant or "musical mantra" than a separated piece. The booklets conatain all the words and great inner notes about Hindu music and its meaning. Great piece of art, I'm getting my copy now!

I have a wide collection of CDs with mantras and there are many which I tremendously enjoy, but the 3 CDs in this set are in a category of its own. The music and the chanting are electrifying. If you sit down and surrender to the music and chanting, you may experiences all sorts of changes in your heart, in your mind and in your body. There are times I listen to these recordings, I'd swear that the cells in my body are rearranging. The changes are tangible. The chants are entrancing, energizing, healing and I'd say nurturing. I've got these CDs only three days ago - I've been listen to them as many times as I could since then and I found myself spontaneously fasting for three days. Whatever the sounds and mantras on these recordings have been activating within me, the effect is magical.

beyond good - transformative,
This review is from: Yoga of Sound (Audio CD)
Russil Paul has the goods. He's musically gifted, spiritually experienced, and very smart. Born in Southern India, he studied classical Vedic chanting as well as the music of Tantra and Bhakti. He practices music and chant as a yoga and is earnest in working to pass on what he's learned. Buy these excellent CDs and listen as you read his book - The Yoga of Sound - to discover how to use sound as spiritual practice or to deepen your existing practice.
I understand how some listeners may have been disappointed or confused if they bought these CDs expecting background music. This is music that asks for your involvement. It has an effect and will change your energetic state, your mood, and your mind. Listening to Paul's work is not simply a passive experience, nor does the music fade into the background: it stays right in your awareness, requires attention and rewards it. The CD notes include directions for working with the music. Learn the chants and work with the practices and you'll end up with much more than a good CD. Great for chanting, trance dancing, and meditating. And it is beautiful... This is music meant to change your life - and it succeeds.

This is a beautiful CDs collection. I am an avid student of yoga, when I first heard Invocation, the music reached inside me and calmed the storm. It's nurturing, soul-searching and inspiring.....the chants are heavy and deep...

Yoga Chants Relaxing,

I listen to "Yoga of Sound" as I rush to and from work as a high school teacher. Instead of feeling hassled, the chants transform me and center me. Even my kids and their friends request the "Yoga of Sound" after a stressful day of school. The selections have a variety of sounds so we don't get bored listening to the CD. We don't know what the chanters are saying, but we like it.

I could never meditate (nor was I motivated to meditate) until I bought this collection. Then, after listening to it several times, as a novice (if that), I thought, hmmm, maybe I could medidate to these chants/mantras. Then I started meditating and found . . . peace. This collection is truly conducive to empyting your mind because the chants and music are so absorbing that you simply blend into the music and lose yourself.
I guess if that doesn't convince you to buy this set, nothing will.

Thankyou!,

The power of chant is remarkable. Thankyou Russil Paul for making it available to the world in such a beautiful way. Even if you just want to listen and be uplifted, buy this CD set. Better yet, start chanting and feel the energy even more. I believe this will change our lives and the World.

I purchased this recording after having been captivated by Russill Paul's AM PM Yoga (2-cd set). I really like the AM PM yoga for my personal hatha yoga practice and for general listening. "The Yoga of Sound" is not as listener-friendly and some of the 3-cd set does not make sense to me for use with a hatha yoga practice. However, if you are interested in chanting and the technical aspects of this form of vocalization, this would be a very good set to own.
