One of the most played CD's in my collection,
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga Sound (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD because I liked the Wai Lana yoga video tapes. With this CD I am attracted to the blend of ancient mantras and relaxation music. I work from home and find that I can play it both as background music and also when I practise meditation. One of the most played CD's in my collection.

I'm an avid music collector. I listen to almost everything -- classical, rock, country, blues -- anything! But I've never heard anything quite like Wai Lana's Yoga Sound. It is distinctly beautiful and totally original. Finding this cd was the biggest surprise I've had all year.

The Best Music Ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga Sound (Audio CD)
I bought this CD because I watch and practice with the show as well as love the music on the show. I was thoroughly enchanted by the sublime vocals. Siddha's voice ranges from sweet and smooth, to emotional and grand, while Wai Lana's beautiful and enchanting voice sends warmth through your body. These two coupled with incredible guitarists, majestic pianists, and wonderful drummers bring to you a beatiful album. 12 songs of incredible depth. My personal favorite is track 7, Lionheart. Lionheart is the most incredible song on the album. You will find yourself singin along to this song while it's playing, and singing it when it's not. The guitarist outdoes himself on this song with an incredible passionate intro, interlude, and accompaniment, while the pianist shows the true depth to his own skills. If you ever want a CD of relaxing music, this is it. I myself do not believe in the Indian religion, (being a Christian), however I do use this album to relax at any time. It is perfect for any genre of music.

Knocks me off my feet every time ...,
By Michael, the music fanatic (Illinois, US of A) - See all my reviews

I listen to all sorts of music... grunge, ska, pop, rock, you name it and I got it. However, I have this new CD that I recently added to my collection... Wai Lana Yoga... it's really far out. It has all these little instruments playing and the voicing... wow... knocks me off my feet every time I listen to it! I just go nuts... it's like you can actually feel it in your bones or something... I don't know... that's how I feel. It's like... different world. It's awesome!

A soundtrack for the soul.,
By A Customer

Wow! This CD has got it all. New age, world, dance, rock. An amazing sonic journey beginning with the first track "Awakening," where waves of yogic peacefulness flow gently through your being, washing away the stress of today's world. Track 3, "Sunflower," weaves Chinese classical textures into a western epic ballad of love and warmth. On "Mirror of the Mind" the listener enjoys a colorful palette of ear treats ranging from gentle acoustic guitar in the beautiful half-time ballad feel, to a driving double-time brew of East Indian percussion and searing rock guitars, over a backdrop of modern dance drone. Track 5 "Changes" is a masterpiece. If there existed a world without radio station formats, this song would be number one. Buy this CD for this cut. On "Lionheart" the soothing orchestral arrangement builds and modulates into an emotional crescendo and then gently returns us to a quiet place. Track 7 "Swan Dance," the longest at 12:29, transports the listener to an inner world of beauty, majesty and love. Wailana's enchanting vocals highlight the vast, richly textured soundscape. The beautiful recurring themes flow gracefully from piano to strings to woodwinds. On "Sweet Gopala," a simple country waltz, again we are treated to a variety pack of instrumentation. Acoustic and electric guitars, jazzy fretless bass, lightly seasoned with a couple shakes of Chinese strings. Track 9, "Most Beautiful Place," lightens up the atmosphere with Siddha on vocals and a melody that I dare you not to sing along with. Track 10, "Trance," is the resting place for the traveler of this world. It is very rare that we can find a real sense of fulfillment through music. This CD is truly a soundtrack for the soul.

Wow! What a nice, beautiful CD! I was expecting it to be so unworthy to buy because of the reviews i read about this WAI LANA CD....but I bought it anyway...good thing I didn't listen to those who wrote negative reviews about this CD...This CD is actually beautiful...the songs are a combination of different yogic mantras with different instruments...creating a very unique, beautiful sound..that can make your whole body and mind relax...:) So for those who wants to try this CD but taken aback by the negative reviews, please try to understand that every person has his own taste...some may like it, some may not...so feel free to try and listen to it... :)

The best gift I've received in years...,

I received this cd for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. In fact, it has been playing most of the time since I got it! It creates a very soothing and relaxing atmosphere without being monotonous. I have different meditation cd's, but I have never heard spiritual sounds being used in such a creative and diverse way. Each track has a unique style. Wai Lana and Siddha both have very soft and touching voices that are also at times incredibly powerful. I find this cd has a deep, positive effect on my mood and attitude. I just ordered their other cd, Yoga-Music of the Heart, and can't wait to receive it. I hope it's asgreat as this one.

Yoga Sound is the most wonderful surprise I could have ever hoped for. It is so soothing and relaxing - I find I can listen to it all day long and never grow tired of it. As a result, I gave it to several of my friends as a gift and they absolutely love it. One friend is a yoga teacher and another a massage therapist - they told me their students and clients really enjoy it and always comment on how nice it makes them feel. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who is looking to calm their mind from the daily stresses of everyday life.

I just wish this was returnable, I bought this due to the reviews and what a mistake... This sounds like a bunch of young kids just starting out on their instruments, you just can't believe a label actually recorded this, this is insulting to the public and lest, a rip off of good money

I do not know how or why several of the reviewers did not like this cd. I guess to each their own... I admit that I was skeptical about purchasing this soundtrack because of those reviews and the select pieces on amazons music player. The preview tracks here on amazon do not do this cd justice. It is VERY beautiful. It is VERY peaceful and has a wonderful tranquilizing effect. It sends you off on a happy journey within you, within your space, so no matter where you are in this world, this cd and her others will surely put your mind, body and soul to ease and at rest. If you practice Wai Lan's Yoga Videos, as I do, you will surely enjoy the music as it compliments her tone of voice, the scenery and the movements. There is some talking throughout several of the songs on the disc but they are so gentle they flow right along with the music. This is more than New Age music as it incorporates beats from all type of music: ie. Rock; Jazz; Rhythm; New Age; etc. If you are a die hard Wai Lana fan as I am, at the end of one of her videos, there is even a carribean beat, which I am sad to say is not on any of her cds. Well, here's hoping for the next one....
Enjoy. |
