Recommended for anyone interested in stretching/yoga!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga for the Young at Heart: Basic Series 1 (VHS) (VHS Tape)
I am an Occupational and Massage therapist, and feel that this is one of the best videos anyone could purchase for themselves. As with any stretching video or program, consult with your physician or therapist if you have specific back trouble. Otherwise, the stretches, breathing and basic yoga techniques are excellent for any age individual, and yield greater flexibility, relief from stress and relief from muscle pain/tightness than any other video I have tried. I recommend it to all my clients!

Perfect for beginning yoga,

I was looking for a yoga program my 68-year-old mother could start. She has balance issues and, like most of us, needs work on flexibility and strength. This is the perfect CD for her and for anyone beginning yoga. I'm keeping a copy to use myself (great stretching and some strengthing and balance for a 41-year old), and recommending it to my Mom.

Not Just for Seniors - Help yourself regain some flexibility,
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga for the Young at Heart: Basic Series 1 (VHS) (VHS Tape)
You don't have to be old to appreciate this non-intimidating Yoga video - if you have never tried Yoga and are afraid, or if you are inflexible and want to stretch out your muscles, ligaments, tendons and regain some of your range of motion, this video could help! I'm just starting a regime of stretching as I notice a certain loss of flexibility creeping into my life. This video has definitely helped. A few of the forward bends are hard on my back, but I modify as I go - which is precisely what they tell you to do in the video. Learning and practicing Yoga in the privacy of your own home is a hell of a lot better than going to a class and trying to force your body to do things it's not ready to do. Not to mention the embarrassment factor. I dig this video, and I think other people will too. Who cares, 50 years from now, if you can run 10 miles or kick box, when what you really want to be able to do is hoist yourself out of a chair. To do that, you need to keep the body stretched and flexible. End of story.

Great for beginners of any age.,

My wife and I are in our thirties and have never done yoga of any kind before. Both of us want to gain more flexibility and strength. We envy the the flexibility of some of th seniors in the video regardless thier age. We have tried other yoga videos from our local and library but keep coming back to this one.

I'm new to yoga and this CD allowed me to practice poses at my own speed until I could master them well enough to put them into a routine. I found it very helpful and nice to see less than perfect bodies participating in yoga

Great video.,

I'm new at this and I find this video "do-able". I am not flexibility at all but I hope to improve in time. This video gets you breathing and moving, and I find myself looking forward to this 45 minute workout. It doesn't ask you to do anything crazy. You'll feel better.

I feel that this dvd is a great dvd for a beginning senior or someone that has not done a lot of yoga before. It is very gentle and does not rush you. Great for working on getting the poses correct.

Made yoga accessible for me & is now a great gentle routine,

The mid-50s and senior class participants helped me (under 30) persevere and get really comfortable with yoga. I enjoy the flexibility in my body and feel wonderful about treating myself to fitness. Now I'm progressing beyond this challenge level but still use this beginning video as a gentle routine (and a positive benchmark!).

Not just for older folks!,
This review is from: Yoga for the Young at Heart: Basic Series 1 (VHS) (VHS Tape)
This is one of the best yoga videos I've ever used. I originally bought this for my 85 year old mother (I'm 45) and liked it so well I got one for myself. It's a nice, slow, relaxing session that targets virtually every part of the body with nice easy stretching. I would also recommend Kripalu Yoga Dynamic by Stephen Cope. Young at Heart is a much shorter session which is nice when there's not a lot of time. The Kripalu tape is a much longer - about 90 minutes.

disappointed--,
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga for the Young at Heart: Basic Series 1 (VHS) (VHS Tape)
I purchased this video based on the all the favorable reviews and, as an older beginner, I am quite disappointed by it. There are no modifications shown for the poses and, although there are older people participating in the class, they are all able to do everything with no problem. This is discouraging. It does not show how to modify the poses using props of any kind. I am still looking for a video that shows more variation.
