A New Perspective for Your Practice,

Yoga at Your Wall: Stretch Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul, Support Your Practice
Having practiced yoga off and on for over ten years I know I feel better after every focused stretch, pose, or class---so why don't I practice more often? The same reason you don't: unless we have a commitment to a class and the motivation to get there...it's too easy to ignore this benefit to our bodies, minds and sould. Besides, it can be boring by ourselves...Ms. Pappas' well illustrated, very informative book on adding the stability of the wall for support and inspiration is a must for every yogi's library. As a student, it will rejuvenate your practice between classes, as a teacher, it will introduce variation to your curriculum. Original, thought provoking and very well written, you will use it often. This is one book that will not be gathering dust on your book shelf!

Review:
YogaFamily.com is a fan of Stephanie Pappas as she continues to inspire students to look at their practice in different ways - both physical and spiritually. Yoga at Your Wall presents a new way to play with your practice while giving you a refreshing perspective towards it. By entering into a posture with different tools, it supports you both mentally and physically in your practice. Your body learns new ways to deepen itself and breaks up habitual muscular memory; while your mind is open to change, new perspective, and the ability to to break up the mental restraints we put upon our self. Yoga at Your Wall is thoroughly written, has clear and abundant photos, and is inspiring to be creative with your practice. If you have felt stagnant in your practice like you have "hit a wall," Yoga at Your Wall will help make a shift to break it down mentally and physically, and then return to your mat with new tools such as body awareness, mental remembrance of the support of the wall, and more trust in yourself to go deeper into your practice. In addition to the 70+ postures spotlight in Yoga at Your Wall (plus equally more variations of them), the chapters in the book group the postures in categories such as: Strength and Energy, Balance and Steadiness, Flexibility and Expansion and Restoration and Relaxation. Each posture is consistently organizes with the following categories explained:descriptive photos showing the different stages of a posture; photos of places in the pose that needs a more visual description with a close up view for proper alignment;instructions and tips for getting into the pose;how to exit the pose;inspiring quotes;tips;suggestion for visual focus and breathing;Home play - ways of deepening the posture more; Benefits and Precautions of the pose. Yoga at Your Wall is offers a new way to play, explore and deepen your practice. [...]

Wonderful Wall Yoga,
By
This review is from: Yoga at Your Wall: Stretch Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul, Support Your Practice (Paperback)
Another hugely impressive book from the fabulous Ms Pappas. I have been a fan for a long time - since I discovered her equally good 'Yoga Postures Adjustments and Assisting'. Have never thought of doing yoga at a wall before - it is surprisingly challenging as I learned going through this book. As always the author is wonderfully affirming and supportive as you weave your way through this inspirational book. Really well laid out and very well written. I defy anyone not to enjoy trying out these poses. A must read!

I was really surprised by the number of asanas that can be done against the wall. A lot! Stephanie Pappas gives good clear instructions with lots of photos. Both instructor and student can get new ideas and inspiration from this book.

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL LEVELS OF YOGA,
This review is from: Yoga at Your Wall: Stretch Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul, Support Your Practice (Paperback)
This book is a must have for all levels of the yoga practice, beginning to the most advanced. I waited a long time for this book to come out and it was well worth the wait. Everyone needs some support in life, so why not let your wall do some of that for you. I thought using my wall would make the postures easier and less challenging but nothing could have been further from the truth. The wall allows you to make the postures as comfortable or challenging as you want them to be. Moving from 3 dimensional balance to 2 dimensional allows me to focus the mind inward and become deeply aware of the feelings and sensations going on inside.
I lent my first copy to a friend and they like it so much I didn't have the heart to ask for it back so I'm now on my second copy, and counting...

I have never used a yoga book as often as I use this one. It contains many, many poses that really help my beginner classes get the "feel" for a pose safely. Plus, the suggestions in the book have helped me deepen my own advanced practice. Great for all levels, well-written and clearly illustrated with photographs. I recommend this book to everyone I know.

beautiful collection,
This review is from: Yoga at Your Wall: Stretch Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul, Support Your Practice (Paperback)
Stephanie Pappas has come out with another great book for yoga. This book gives lots of specific ways to practice yoga at your wall. She has given support to the traditional asana by letting the wall help hold us up. The wall is great way to move further into your yoga practice. Thank you Stephanie for putting together a creative and helpful book.

A MUST HAVE YOGA BOOK!,

This review is from: Yoga at Your Wall: Stretch Your Body, Strengthen Your Soul, Support Your Practice (Paperback)
I just love this book! I NEVER did yoga at the wall before, so this was a big revelation for me. There are so many postures that I like to do at the wall, that to pick just one or two is really tough. The best part of using the wall is that you don't need to have someone there to help you hold a difficult pose or to assist in a pose that you can't really do. You simply use the wall as your guide...and this book teaches you how.
I think the balancing section is wonderful. I find that since my leg injury 3 years ago, my balance has been a difficult thing to get back. Following the guidelines in the balancing section have been very helpful. I love doing chair pose, revolving triangle and triangle at the wall. I also think that dancer, warrior III, and half moon II are great balancing poses to do at the wall." This book overall has changed my yoga practice for the better. In my opinion it is a must have book to add to your collection! Great Job Stefani, thanks for this wonderful addition to my yoga practice. |
