How can you go wrong with a block of cork? Product is just what it's advertised to be. I was attracted to cork blocks because they are supposed to be renewable and they are light weight. They are also comfortable to grip and not slippery on the floor or mat.

I bought this yoga block because I wanted to revamp it to match a new cream and black damask mat that I received for Christmas. It was exactly as I expected. My only complaint is that it's not exactly square (about 3mm narrower on one side) and the surface does flake off in spots after moderate to minimal wear. If you're looking for a plain Jane yoga block the cork is an excellent choice. It is slightly heavier than the foam/ plastic blocks but, the cork is much sturdier. My one suggestion to those looking to decorate the block in any way is to use a marker. Paint, transfers, and stamping ink do not adhere to the cork as much as you'd think.

I personally love the solid stability of this cork block. It is significantly heavier than your standard foam block, which makes it a more challenging weight for ab workouts and also makes it feel sturdier when being used as a stability aid (the 4" width is also good for the latter). However, these blocks are also much harder than their foam alternatives. Cork can be uncomfortable when used as a seat for folks (like my husband) who can't comfortably get into poses like Lotus or Pigeon without a block to sit on. I prefer my cork block; my husband finds the eco-foam better suited to his needs.

4 Inch Solid Cork Yoga Block with Beveled Edges (4" x 6" x 9")
I like these blocks because they are very solid, light weight, and have a nice 'feel' to them. They hold your hands in place, which is nice. Also, the price is great. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are a little too large for me. Just slightly smaller would have worked better. However, overall I am very happy with this purchase. |
