5.0 out of 5 stars My preschool class loves this video!
I'm a preschool teacher and have viewed this tape many times. I love it and so do my students!I never put on videos in my class but this one is an exception. The songs are catchy and singable. They do a good job with explaining the poses on a preschool level. "Stretch out your dog paws" "Shake like Jello" They also include positive messages...

1.0 out of 5 stars Uninspiring, challenging workout if you can stay awake.
I was looking for a fast paced, upbeat exercise ball workout. I did not find it in this video. This video is slow and dull. The workout was difficult but after watching it once I know I will never put it in the VCR again. This is a high priced video and I was expecting alot more than I got.

They do a good job with explaining the poses on a preschool level. "Stretch out your dog paws" "Shake like Jello" They also include positive messages for kids. "You are as strong as a tree" "Smile!" (I'm not sure the exact words but it's close) I've incorpated many of the yoga poses into my circle times and transition times. It really helps refocus the group. I've come on line to purchase this wonderful video for all my preschool aged nephews and neices! I highly reccomend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gentle Introduction to Yoga for young children, June 19, 2000
This review is from: Yogakids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My four year old daughter loves this video. She has always been fascinated by yoga because she sees me doing it and until I saw this video I had no means to help her do it. This video is fantastic for many reasons. First, it's got lots of kids doing the poses, so that kids can really relate to them. Second, the poses are pretty simple (although some are a little more challenging). Third, the video also focuses on love and respect of nature. Finally, there are some great little songs on the video. All in all, my daughter has a great time with this video and she is so happy that she has her own yoga practice. It's great that now if she has a little leg cramp, I can tell her to do downward dog and she knows what I am talking about. She is very proud to be a "Yoga Kid" and I think most other children would be as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST video for any toddler to watch!, June 17, 2002
This review is from: Yogakids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Reading throught the reviews I was surprised that some people didn't like this video! I love it and my 2 year old daughter LOVES it. I catch her outside doing different yoga posses in her sandbox! After performing yoga poses (purely her idea!) for the whole family now, we call her yoga meister. ANYWAYS,:) I love this video because I feel good about her watching it. She is interacting with the video and moving about, not just sitting there watching TV. It has cute songs- and so soothing. The setting is also calming and beautiful. I think the video sends a calm-happy-loving message through its songs and setting. It is recommended for 3 years up- but both my daughter and her cousin love it and they are 2. It isn't [pricey], worth every cent.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Exercise, July 5, 2000
By
This is the best exercise system I have found and this is the best tape on the ball workouts. You can get aerobics, toning, strengthening, balance - just about everything by using the exercise ball. I looked at a few tapes on this subject. This one has a tremendous amount of exercises and each is explained very well, especially with safety tips about proper body mechanics. Anyone interested in exercise, weight loss and toning the body should really use this video. It is a "can't miss" opportunity to look great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get it (And use it!), May 10, 2000
By
I have used this video for over a year. I'm involved in sports, especially martial arts. Before using the video, I was usually sore and injured muscles regularly. Using this video keeps my body in great shape and I no longer get sore or injured (as much). Jean Goulet (I have other tapes of hers too) obviously really cares about the viewer doing the exercises correctly. She explains everything just as your physical therapist would. In many tapes, the teacher just does the exercises and you follow as best as you can even though you don't really know what you're doing. In this video, you really learn how to do the exercises properly - and there are a lot of exercises shown. This video will really get you into shape and keep you there. This video has really made a difference in my life and greatly improved my sports abilities - flexibility, stamina, strength etc. (And I finally got great muscle definition). P.S. The exercises range from simple to really! challanging. You can go at your own level.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent video for recovering back injuries, March 14, 2000
By A Customer
I herniated two discs and went to Physical Therapy where they placed me on the ball for exercise. I have been discharged from PT now and was looking for a progression in ball exercises. This video provides that. It is challenging enough to keep me going, and has helped the progress in my healing back. I am very active, dance, golf, swim, hike, bike, and love the control this video gives me. It has the ability to add control and strength to my back and enable me to do the things I love. I found it challenging and disagree with the other review you have on this video. I encourage everyone to buy it, enjoy it, get back and stomach strength and as I am over 50, it gives me the low impact I need.

2.0 out of 5 stars some problem areas, June 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Yogakids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a yoga instructor. I bought this video for my niece but decided to return it. I thought the format was fragmented and somewhat confusing. There was too much footage of actual animals and not enough of the kids doing the poses. The narrator referred to Mountain pose but did not give instruction for it. Also, there is some disagreement in yogas circles about the teaching of Headstand, an advanced posture that was included in this video. I did like the original songs by Marcia Wenig.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this video!, May 12, 2002

This review is from: Yogakids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I bought this video on the recommendation of several different people. My son (who is 2.5) loves it, and i love it too. He enjoys doing the 'tree pose', 'snake pose', and 'lion pose'. People should be warned though, it is new agey (which doesn't bug me at all, since i am pretty new agey myself! LOL!). The yoga-mama talks about how we are all interconnected, and you learn how to say "Ommm...", etc. The songs are sweet and gentle, and each pose is illustrated by different images of animals or nature scenes. We play this video for a little bit at a time, since it is divided into sections you don't have to watch the whole thing at a time. It is a very gentle and lovely...it is the only video that my son watches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun intro to yoga for young children, February 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Yogakids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I almost passed up this video because of some reviews I had read. But when we saw it at the library, I decided to give it a try...and my 4 year daughter liked it so much she wanted to do it again and again! I found it to be a good video to introduce the concepts yoga to children. There is a small segment between each pose with shots of animals, which helped my daughter better undersand the pose (so don't expect the same "flow" as an adult yoga session). Though it says ages 3 to 10, this video is better geared towards the younger end of this age range.
