"The advocate of spontaneous spirituality"

A brilliant accomplishment of a very young author (considering the subject) of an eclectic belief, of which he displays superior mastery. Writing in the manner of an medieval bhakta (meaning true devotion), he touches the fundaments of the zen-buddhism and instant-enlightenment in koans (apparently paradoxical, but profound statements), taoist practices of Tantra-yoga, Osho's eccentric playfulness in which we recognize the vital joy of St. Francis, but also the author's prime inspirations: Babaji and Jesus. All things are connected. All religions are but fragments of the universal Truth, a puzzle that can form the final picture only if the parts are put together. Nevertheless, he advocates the spontaneous spirituality that is in fact a man's natural state; creator of the up-stream kriya syntagm, (the upward kriya or action). The first step on the spiritual path is the recognition and awareness of the reality, the present moment, or, in other words, the awakening of Kundalini Shakti. It is a potential, dormant, unrealized energy of a being, that rises upward through the energetic centers in the body - chakras (chakra=circle). The first, basic one lies at the bottom of the spine, then the one below the navel, then the chakra of the solar plexus. It is followed by the heart and throat chakra, and the chakra between the eyes- so called third eye, and, finally, the crown chakra. The activation of Kundalini mostly takes place during the awakening of a disciple's consciousness by the teacher, and less often spontaneously. Turina meticulously explains the guru-disciple issue, although he prefers relaxed surrender and guidance of one's own inner being, as the most powerful guide on the path towards enlightenment. There are numerous obstacles on that path, first of all the identification with the body and thought, therefore with the ego. But, those are the transient categories, and by renouncing them we shall experience joy, from which gratitude and devotion grow, inconspicuously transforming the ego into the Divine Self. Then there is no more separation. And love flourishes. Or, said in the wonderful words of Hitopadesha: "The enemy, knocking at our door, should be greeted properly, for even the tree bestows its shade upon its feller". One should also be cautious of the dangerous pitfall of self-deception of false saintliness, which devalues the inferior, the unspiritual, the carnivores, the unclean... It is necessary to transmute these feelings, rendering them powerless. The false saintliness results in lack of perception, in looking the other way. This is the reason why insight and conscious love are its exact opposites. Another deepening of the topics of yoga, God, karma, reincarnation and especially the sublimation of sexuality, motivates the reader to deeply study this book. The techniques of pranayama, asanas, and the exercises of concentration can be mastered, Turina says, in a couple of months, and then one should continuously practice in order to maintain the elated state of consciousness thus gained - which makes one acquainted with the astral, mental and still higher levels (causal, atmic-nirvanic,..). He offers meditations for relaxation, Kundalini awakening and similar techniques, which can be dangerous to the unacquainted beginners, but the ones who know, or the ones who seek, will not remain indifferent to the work that represents a real jewel on the string of Croatian spiritual literature.
