5.0 out of 5 stars Original Idea---Kombucha from a Tea!
*****
This Organic Green Tea Kombucha from Yogi Tea is certainly unique. It tastes like a mixture of passion fruit, plum, ginger, and green tea. It is mild, and not bitter at all, even when you leave the tea bag in the whole time you drink the tea, as I do. I have always loved Yogi Teas and have many flavors in my cupboard as I write this. I have never tried the Green Tea Kombucha flavor and would normally not write a review on an untried product, but think it's important to set the record straight for anyone who purchases this product with the intent of gaining the benefits derived from kombucha. 5.0 out of 5 stars Original Idea---Kombucha from a Tea!, June 13, 2007
This review is from: Yogi Green Tea Kombucha, Herbal Tea Supplement, 16-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
*****
This Organic Green Tea Kombucha from Yogi Tea is certainly unique. It tastes like a mixture of passion fruit, plum, ginger, and green tea. It is mild, and not bitter at all, even when you leave the tea bag in the whole time you drink the tea, as I do. Best of all, it is an easy, convenient way of benefiting from Kombucha, if you don't grow your own (and I don't anymore, as it is not easy or convenient for me). I have never before obtained my Kombucha from a tea; this is a tasty way to do so.

I am definitely impressed with this tea and with Yogi Teas in general. Organic Green Tea Kombucha comes with an expiration date (a good thing, because it's not full of preservatives, plus you can tell if it is fresh). Yogi Tea seems to be another company (like Numi, Aspen, Traditional Medicinals) that values sustainable and healthy practices. Their web site has a helpful glossary of tea ingredients and is beautifully designed, with info about each tea they make.

Yogi Tea writes this on the box about the tea's benefits: "Green Tea Kombucha is based on an ancient remedy and offers a convenient form of Kombucha designed for daily use. Legend has it that some 2,000 years ago, Kombucha originated in Russia, and from there it traveled to Japan. Since then it has been used to detoxify the body, enhance the immune system, fight fatigue and soothe an upset stomach. This special healing formula is made with Organic Green Tea (Camellia sinensis), which is organically grown and, unlike other green teas, has a delicate flavor with no bitterness. Green Tea has excellent antioxidant properties. To it we have added a concentrated purified extract of Kombucha-Pure(tm), which is produced without the use of refined sugar or black tea, and is made from Kombucha grown in a unique medium of 32 supporting Chinese herbs. The recipe is complemented with Organic Spearmint, which can help to relax the body and aid digestion; Organic Licorice Root, to support the adrenals and enhance the effects of other healing herbs; and Dong Quai Root, a well-known tonic. Once the benefits of these ingredients are released by hot water, you are ready to enjoy a delicious, delightful and soothing cup of tea - and one that is naturally rich in antioxidants and other health-supporting qualities."

Yogi Tea's use of "Kombucha-Pure", grown in 32 Chinese herbs and WITHOUT black tea or sugar is very, very appealing, and a new and exciting way of producing Kombucha.

Note that Yogi Tea also makes a decaf version of this tea that has exactly the same ingredients except that the organic green tea is decaffeinated---naturally, of course!

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Addictive, December 25, 2008
This review is from: Yogi Green Tea Kombucha, Herbal Tea Supplement, 16-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
Well, I'm hooked. I mean, I can't stop drinking this stuff. Like the other reviewers have mentioned, this tea is not bitter at all, and the kombucha rounds it out in such a way that, well, you start to crave it. Maybe a lot of it. Maybe that's OK...

I just broke down and bought a 6-pack of this from Amazon, as I've been spending waaay too much on it at my local grocer's.

I drink this two cups at a time. I'll be on my 3rd and 4th cups for the day in just a moment. I'm boiling water right now. Pathetic, ain't it?

1.0 out of 5 stars HEAT KILLS BENEFICIAL KOMBUCHA ORGANISMS!!!, January 15, 2012
This review is from: Yogi Green Tea Kombucha, Herbal Tea Supplement, 16-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
The beneficial bacteria, yeasts and enzymes that make kombucha so healthful can only do so if they are alive. Heat kills them, so pouring boiling water on a tea bag is going to obliterate those benefits. If you are drinking this tea for the taste or the other beneficial ingredients, then it probably doesn't matter to you. However, it is extremely disappointing that Yogi Teas is using deceptive marketing to influence consumers of their tea in this way. If you want to derive the therapeutic benefits of kombucha, it is necessary to either brew it yourself using a kombucha "mushroom" or buy the raw bottled version in the store.

I am addicted to this green tea! It has the smell of passion fruit. I have to have at least 1-2 cups a day. Great Buy. Can't find it at all stores and it cost half the price on Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Flavor - Not Bitter, May 18, 2009

The flavor of this kombucha green tea is fantastic, it beats out other green teas and definitely wins by a landslide if you compare it to the kombucha teas that are chilled with the live cultures.

I am skeptical about the kombucha benefits in a dried tea format. I don't know if I am really getting the same as in a liquid live form and plan to do more research on it. As a green tea, though, I love the slight berry flavors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tasting tea, November 27, 2008

I saw this tea on amazon but didn't want to invest in 6 boxes without knowing if I liked it. I found it at the grocery store and it was 3.50 a box (way more expensive then here on amazon) and decided to try it. This to has a wonderful smell and flavor - drank two cups of it the first day I bought it. Will definitely be adding it to my tea collection.

The gren tea with Kombucha is absolutely wonderful. Not only is it good for you, but tastes great. You really need to take a quiet break to appreciate the flavor. It's such a soothing experience, you almost wish you didn't have to face the hectic world again.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite tea, May 26, 2009
This review is from: Yogi Green Tea Kombucha, Herbal Tea Supplement, 16-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
Typically I don't like green tea, but this tea doesn't taste anything like the typical green tea! The lemongrass, spearmint, and passion fruit flavor keep it from being bitter, and make it very tasty. I also find that when I drink this, it soothes minor heartburn and stomaches. I don't drink any other tea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best tasting tea out there!, August 7, 2009

I've tried many brands of green tea, and the Yogi Green Tea with Kombucha is the best tasting tea out of all of them. It has passion fruit, so it doesn't taste like alfalfa or hay. I add a tiny bit of honey for my sweet-tooth, but it tastes great either way. I drink 2 cups a day and never get over jittery; The caffeine content is just right. Definitely worth the try if you are looking for an every-day caffeine drink.

I can't remember being so ecstatic about tea as I am about Kombucha, I drink
G T's Kombucha every day and this tea made by Yogi is also a daily health regular. I rarely drink coffee now and this is the reason why! I don't let myself run out. It is that good!
