You are in for a veritible feast with this heavy tome. A look at the life of Indian Saint Yogi Ramsuratkumar. 800+ pages, excellent writing, phenomenal read. I devoured it. You'll find out about a rare, precious holy, crazy-wise, fool beggar, that will leave you blessed and grateful. In a world full of charlatans he was and IS the Real Deal. Jai Yogi Ramsuratkumar!

The story of a true guru,
This review is from: Yogi Ramsuratkumar: Under the Punnai Tree (Paperback)
Yogi Ramsuratkumar was one of India's hidden gurus and time will ensure that he will be much more celebrated in the years to come as opposed to the time he was in his physical body.
For almost 40 years after finding all his spiritual answers, he continued his "work" silently. During a recent trip to Thiruvanamalai, my uncle told me how the yogi would call out to people at the temple with a stern "come here", bless them and send them back on their way. This book is not about "miracles" in the traditional sense. Instead it celebrates the life of the hidden yogi and reveals intimate details of the interactions that he had with different devotees. If the goal of the book was to establish a connectivity of the guru with the reader, the book is a complete success. The personal touch is invigorating on multiple occasions.

From another world,
By The Friz "spiritual seeker" (Prescott Valley, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Yogi Ramsuratkumar: Under the Punnai Tree (Paperback)
The world of Yogi Ramsuratkumar is so foreign to most westerners that the book feels like you have stepped into another dimension. It will open your eyes to the work of a modern spiritual master in India. The author does a great job of bringing the reader into the world of Yogi and his devotees. Great read.

A Treasure! A must read for all spiritual seekers!!,
This review is from: Yogi Ramsuratkumar: Under the Punnai Tree (Paperback)
One of the best biographies on Yogi Ramsuratkumar, the hidden saint of Tiruvanamalai, India - of which I have read several. Exquisitely written, the author offers her own personal experiences in the Saint's company along with detailed accounts of his life to create a compelling and engaging read. Highly recommended!!

Very good in one way, really bad in another one,
This review is from: Yogi Ramsuratkumar: Under the Punnai Tree (Paperback)
It could have been a great book, provided that it was not using Yogi Ramsuratkumar to project one of his American disciples as a master, in a way that is often mere imagination, waking dreams and distorted evidences. One sometimes asks oneself whether the book is really about Yogi Ramsuratkumar ... Had it been only about Him, it would be less thick, more objective, truer and cheaper. The reader has to know that the book was written by one of the students of this disciple and published by the publishing house of the same. If one is able to put this very long hagiographic and biased stuff aside and to stick mainly to Indian disciples and devotees, you will get some great things. Yes, it could have been great! Alas, it is one of the rare books available in the West about the great Indian Sage... Parthasarathy's book is much better and let us hope that other books on 'this Beggar' will come out soon.
