Book Description

“What happens when something in your desire shifts or changes, something that you believed defined you? What happens when you’re afraid? What happens when you desire or love where you shouldn’t? What happens if you don’t desire where you love? Or if you don’t love where you desire?” Combining the philosophy of yoga with lessons from her own life, author and yoga instructor Autumn Needles contemplates body awareness and image, sex and sexuality, and how we shift through layers of belief, desire and taboo in search of truth. Weaving her observations with personal stories—raw and honest, silly and sexy—Autumn suggests ways to explore our own inner landscapes to surmount our boundaries and fears. Look elsewhere for a guide to tantric yoga or sexual acrobatics. This courageous little book is a must-read for sexually adventurous truth-seekers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book. August 15, 2012

Weren't any other reviews so I thought I would leave one. I was intrigued by this book so I got it on my kindle. I didn't plow through it like some other books. I would read a bit here and there and on my breaks at work and really think about the text in each chapter.

The author does rant some but she warns of that in the beginning. All with good purpose though, and I really enjoyed the wisdom this book had to offer. I already knew a great deal on sexuality and I was familiar with some of the teachings in yoga and similar eastern philosophies but the way she writes really gave me a more simplistic way of looking at it all. Easy to understand and it really brings you to think and question yourself but also feel comfortable in the fact that there really isn't anything wrong with that either. In a way, she's very blunt in some places but you'll know that it's all the truth despite what's supposed to be socially acceptable and what isn't.

She also lists a lot of examples and experiences in her own life as well as some good books to follow up on if you're wanting to delve in any of the other areas she mentions in her writing. I really liked this book and I'll definitely be recommending this to others who are seeking more understanding about themselves and sexuality in general.

More About the Author

Autumn Needles began practicing yoga at age 12 for a spinal curvature. Her spinal curvature didn't go away, but her love of yoga began there and blossomed as she began to study and practice yoga as a philosophy together with the physical practice. She received her 200-hour yoga instructor certification from Nosara Yoga Institute and began teaching in 2006. With absolutely no sense of direction and a love of writing, she began a blog (Sense of Direction, www.homebodyautumn.blogspot.com) about getting lost, in the real life sense as well as the metaphoric sense. The yoga philosophy found its way in, as did her experiences with exploring sexuality, and the mix eventually evolved into her book "Yogic Bliss and Sexual Healing."

She has lived in her current home long enough that she no longer gets lost so easily.
