Superior Yogurt Maker!!! (SEE UPDATES!),
This review is from: Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker with Bonus 101 Things To Do with Yogurt Cookbook (Health and Beauty)
Absolutely the best yogurt maker, period! I've cultured milk products for over 3 decades and I don't EVER want to be without this yogurt maker! (I have two of these.) Yogourmet makes excellent products with consistent results, far superior to the others available. Regular Yogourmet culture is great. Try the CBA yogurt culture and buy an extra batch jar, because you will eat far more of this yogurt than you ever thought. Try the Yogourmet Kefir culture too, (no yogurt maker needed)--you'll be glad you did! TWO UPDATES: The digital thermometer, which is now standard, is terrible (see my other reviews), buy a different one. The free 101 Things To Do With Yogurt cookbook is very so-so. It is not published or written by Yogourmet, in case there was confusion about this point. ANOTHER UPDATE: Yogourmet has extremely polite, very friendly, courteous, excellent customer service. Contacted them about the "new" digital thermometer in my newer model. They listened, took care of the problem promptly and to my complete satisfaction. In case they ever read this, THANK YOU, Yogourmet!

I have only used this product about 3 times. I am so happy it makes 1/2 gallon of yogurt. It is just as simple and I really believe it is making a better yogurt than I've made before. LOVE IT

Fun and tasty,
This review is from: Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker with Bonus 101 Things To Do with Yogurt Cookbook (Health and Beauty)
It's fun and easy to make homemade yogurt with this machine. And my kids eat it faster than I can make it! Six batches in the first three weeks. And it tastes better than any store bought stuff.

I had the EXACT same problem as S. Franklin (see review of August 29, 2011). I bought my Yogourmet in January 2009 and had great success--for awhile. Then I noticed a sloshing sound in the body of the appliance which I'd not remembered before. After this, I noticed the same leaking from the cord area. Still, I shook out most of the water andI kept using it, thinking (stupidly) maybe there's a little moisture getting trapped in the walls somehow (imperfect seal on top edge, "sweating"?) TODAY I finally noticed a hairline crack inside and a very low level of water as I took out the inner yogurt container. I shudder to think that I might have easily electrocuted myself over the several months I've used this item with this (increasing) leak. I'm sure the warmth of the container opens that crack enough when in operation to allow water to seep inside.
Still, the yogurt came out great! And I NEED a batch yogurt maker. I really do not want to go back to laboriously filling those little jars. In addition, our family wipes out yogurt really fast. Since someone else has had the exact same hairline crack leakage problem, I really do not want to invest another (nearly) $50 in this yogurt maker. I have two nice 2-quart containers left over, so I'm thinking I'll take the advice of Commenter "jim_nc" and try to mix up my culture and warm it some other way, either in a crock pot set on warm (which I'll need to calibrate somehow) or with an insulated "ice" chest, or ... ? Would these methods hold the warmth for 24 hours (rather than just a few hours as in most yogurt-making? Ideas, anyone? Perhaps there's a market out there for an enterprising inventor to make a simple, quality warmer for 24-hour yogurt making.

I had been using the kind of yogurt maker where you fill the little jars, it worked fine however if you eat a lot of yogurt it was a real pain! This Yogourmet yogurt maker lets you make i or 2 liters at a time. I bought theYogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker with CBA Starter and an extra batch container also, that way I can make nonfat for myself and lowfat for the husband and boys. I batch lasts about 3 weeks and makes great yogurt.
