More About the Author

Jeremy Allan was born in North Vancouver, Canada, in 1953. In the mid- 1970s, after dropping out of both high school and college, he hit the road, traveling through South American, then on to Madrid to study Spanish colonial history. After a year of desultory study and heated political discussion in seedy bars, notably without becoming either an Anarchist or an Alcoholic. Jeremy moved on to Asia, where he was Shanghaied by an oil company desperate for manpower during the early-80s oil boom. Following his two-year stint in the Borneo oil fields, he elected to remain in Indonesia, exploring remote regions of the archipelago, or barreling down the back roads of Java and Bali on a vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle. When his savings were sufficiently depleted, he moved to Jakarta to work as a travel-trade correspondent and freelance corporate copywriter. Jeremy Allan is an avid bicyclist, and currently makes his home in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
