5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite book
It's a book about a selfish demon and an abused girl who come together by accident. The demon Xanth has to try to make her shed her last tear, but there's no time for that because they have to help a mundane family and try to defeat a hurricane. The ending brought tears to my eyes. Yon Ill Wind is truly one of Piers Antony's best books that he ever wrote and I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the earlier ones
I am a big Xanth fan, but I hadn't gotten any new episodes for over 10 years, because of becoming a very busy working mother. My brother-in-law got me this one after I had recently re-read all my old ones. The kids having finally gotten interested in Xanth got me going on my re-reading project.

I am a big Xanth fan, but I hadn't gotten any new episodes for over 10 years, because of becoming a very busy working mother. My brother-in-law got me this one after I had recently re-read all my old ones. The kids having finally gotten interested in Xanth got me going on my re-reading project.

I don't think this one measures up. It doesn't flow like the others and you don't get into the story. Maybe it's because there are too many main characters, so that none of them can be developed very well. They all run off in different directions and it's hard to keep track of what is going on or what the characters are like.

Maybe it's because, while the earlier stories were essentially cheery, this one has an underlying gloominess throughout.

When certain ones of the characters are announced to be in love, it seems like sort of an afterthought. You just don't get inside anyone's head enough to really empathize with them, so there's not enough buildup that would justify the characters' feelings.

The puns don't seem to be as good as they used to be either.

I don't think I'm just becoming jaded, because I was reading the earlier ones again to my kids at the same time I was reading this one and the earlier ones just seem better.

Yon Ill Wind is truly one of Piers Antony's best books that he ever wrote and I personally loved it. I've been reading Piers Anthony books since I was 10 or 11, (I started with Being A Green Mother) and Yon Ill Wind is my favorite!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Xanth novels in awhile, March 18, 1998
By A Customer
I have been an avid reader of Piers Anthony's novels, I've read and own all of the Xanth series, as well as a number of his other series. And I must say that lately, the Xanth novels have not been quite as good, lacking in the original creativity that first attracted me to the series, but with this one, I believe life is once again breathed into the magical books. Dont' miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice! Different, unusual Xanth novel., February 9, 1998
By A Customer
I liked it! Why? Well, first of all because I like all Xanth books, they might not have strong themes but their /fun/ to read, take your mind off the every day worries. Then, its different... very! It has more than just puns, it's a little sad, and there's a lot of different, new ideas. I loved the idea of the demon X(A/N)th living in Xanth, and all the rest of them. And again, it's more serious than usual, for those of you who like that. READ IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Library book, August 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It appeared that the book used to be from a library last stamp inside from '04, book is in excellent condition. I was a little disappointed to see the dust cover taped to the inside cover of the book itself. Otherwise it was great. =)

It is a very interesting and intriguing book with many twists and turns it is a book taht you just can't put down. You don't HAVE to have read the other Xanth books, but it helps if you have read the other books. I really liked it, but make sure you like fantasy for this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Xanth book!, January 13, 2000
This was a great book, it was the most original Xanth book. I loved the Mundane family, Demon Xan(t/h), Cholrien and Willow! And the best thing is that Demon Xanth and Chlorien come back in Piers Anthoney's newest book Xone of something (i dont remember) This is a must read for Xanth fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Illest Wind of All, January 5, 2000

Yon Ill Wind is a fantastic Xanth book. It has all the elements of a great fantasy book, characters, setting and a wonderful plot. The irony of the Demon X(a/n)th first seeing Chlorine at the beginning of the book, was too much. Peirs Anthony really out did himself this time. He has great literary mind and writes like i would like to write one day. I suggest this book to all fantasy lovers because once you even glance at it you will be mysteriously intrigued by all that he writes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best books I have ever written, July 24, 1999
By A Customer
Piers Anthony has to be one of the best fantasy writers of all time, right up there next to J.R.R. Tolkien and Timothy Zahn, and ME! This is a great book, worthy of the attention of even the most hard-to-please readers!
