Well first - if you don't like bananas then this might not be for you, as it seems all the recipes require at least some frozen bananas in order to give you the creamy texture. I tried to use just frozen strawberries and it came out more like chopped ice then cream - but you might like that. I have tried it with bananas and strawberries, mixed berries, peaches and mango and they are all wonderful!! Very creamy with great fruit taste!! A typical bowl will be 1 medium banana with 4 oz of frozen strawberries - that gives you a full bowl of frozen treat. Kids love it too ... especially the banana mango. You can buy almost any kind of frozen fruit at the store now for 1/2 the cost of ice cream oz for oz. Some folks talk about how you can do the same thing with a fork or a hand mixer, but I tried it and it is so much easier with the Yonanas maker - I burned out a hand mixer trying - wife almost killed me. Clean up is a breeze - the thing comes apart and breaks down to four pieces that are real easy to clean. The cutting head seems very well build of hard plastic and stainless steel. The motor, housing and drive head seem well built and powerful. The only part that seems that it might be a problem is the silicon gasket, just need to be careful and if it tears they sell replacements via their customer support - haven't had any problem just need to be easy with it as you are taking it apart and storing it. As a bonus you can use the brown bananas as they give the best flavor - no waste (how much banana bread can one actually make?) I believe this was money well spent!!

I've been eating banana "ice cream" for over 20 years now. Usually I make it in either a normal food processor or in a Vitamix. So every time I saw the Yonanas, I would think...nah, I don't need this. Everybody kept telling me that it gave it a different texture, so I finally decided to try it from one of the online shopping sites--as I could return it if needed. I am so glad I did! The Yonanas really does give it a better texture--more ice cream like. It's hard to describe, but much smoother and more emulsified (even though there's nothing in bananas to be emulsified.) My kids and I have been enjoying it a lot--both plain and with other frozen fruits mixed in. I really really enjoy it. Clean up is pretty easy too (you disassemble the machine by turning the main black bit counter-clockwise (OK, might be clockwise--but it's marked on the machine. :))

Our favorite mix-ins are coconut, mini chocolate chips, and sprinkles. (My kids are young.) Another great treat is to freeze pineapple spears or chunks and use that along with the bananas. Add in some coconut and it's like a pina colada.

To see if you even like banana ice cream, peel two spotted bananas (like for banana bread) and put them in a ziploc baggie in the freezer. The next day, take them out and either put them in your Cuisinart or blender. You might need to add 1-2 Tablespoons of milk (although the Yonanas does not need this). Blend until a paste. It also makes a great food for teething babies. No sugar, just bananas--but nice and cold.

We have always enjoyed the banana whip at the Bashful Banana on the OC Boardwalk but couldn't bring ourselves to purchase the big machine that they use- just too much money and too big for our kitchen. This is great. It makes a great banana whip and is very easy to clean- a very reasonable price. Fantastic!!

The yonanas dessert is delicious. The idea of healthy eating is wonderful. However, the yonanas maker itself is substandard. The motor only lasts for a few uses. To have a product that only gives a 90 warrenty is a red flag to begin with, but my machine only lasted a few days.

I was going to buy this product, but after reading the negative reviews I decided not to waste my money. I received this as a Christmas gift. After reading the instructions and following them, I made my first batch of banana soft ice cream. What a pleasant surprise. It was great. I have since used strawberry's with the bananas and it was even better. I think the negative reviews were the result of not following the directions. The next surprise was the easy cleaning of the machine. It easily breaks down to three pieces. I keep it on the counter where it is readily available.If you like soft ice cream, you will love this product.

This product is good IF the fruit is at just the correct ripeness, but if the fruit is a bit hard and not super ripe, it can have a bitter taste. It is also necessary to clean the Yonana straight away or it is difficult to clean. I probably wouldn't buy it again, but it would be good for kids or adults who need to eat more fruit, but they don't like the texture of fruits. I think I liked it better when I made it, froze it, and then ate it like a sorbet. I purchased this at Amazon and then found I could get it at Target for about 30. less. :(

The yonana maker I bought is fantastic! Don't understand the person who's unit burned out after only 3 uses!! The bananas--all fruit--must be thawed for at least 5 min or more to allow for the creamy texture (without burning up the motor). It does tell you in the instruction booklet to partially thaw bananas. I put mine in the microwave for about 20 seconds if my one yr old grandson is awake & impatient for breakfast! This is a great healthy alternative to all the processed sugar & fat usually contained in store bought ice cream. And clean up is easy after you realize that the unit must be taken apart and scraped to remove the fruit! I usually do this if my family wants different flavors that aren't all mixed together anyway! You'll be happy with this if you buy it! I am...!
