Too many 4x4,

Half of this book is 4x4 kenken that are way too easy. If you only want 6x6 or larger I suggest getting another book. New York Times is great, though.

I have been a fan of sudoku for a very long time. I just got into playing kenken recently and my friend introduced me to this book. Once i started playing the book i could not put it down. This game is harder and more addictive than sudoku. I recommend this book to anyone who loves math and sudoku. The 4 by 4 ones are not that challenging but once you get to the 6 by 6, those give you hard times. Also use pencil!!! very good book

I highly recommend this book for beginners, from seniors to youth, anyone who enjoys math and puzzles. I did the NY Times' KenKen for a year prior to playing it in print. I had several surgeries this year and the simple puzzles in this book allowed me to continue to play a game I love while struggling with the fog of recovery. This is definitely a book FOR BEGINNERS, the "hard" puzzles at the end of the book are only hard compared to the puzzles at the beginning of the book. Again, KenKen is for everyone. From youths who want a fun way to learn math to seniors who need to keep their mind sharp, KenKen is answer!

I've never been a big fan of Suduko so I was really surprised at how much I enjoy this game. My 13 year old daughter introduced me to it for they have it in our daily paper. We are both hooked and fight over who gets to do the one in the paper each day so I decided to get her this book for Christmas and it was well worth it. It is a great puzzle book and we have alot of fun doing them.

Too easy, then too hard!!,

I zipped thru the first half of the book. These were 4x4 squares. When I got to the 6x6 squares I bogged down. Now I have a challenge! The book is well done tho.

Fun brain puzzle, more engaging and satisfying than sudoku.,

This kenken book is a fun collection of puzzles that will keep your brain sharp and entertained. Kenken uses similar thought processes and solving stratagies to sudoku, but the math functions give an added dimension of logic and complexity, which makes it more engaging for the brain. Also, one of the frustrating things about sudoku is you can spend lots of effort and get stuck halfway through the puzzle, which makes you feel like you wasted time. Since kenken is smaller, you rarely get stuck, which leads for a shorter and more satisfying puzzle.
This book has a good mix of easy and challenging puzzles. One of the nice things is the 6x6 (largest size), easy puzzles, which means you can enjoy the complexities of a 6x6 size without it being too hard. All the puzzles in the book are definitely solvable for normal people, and the puzzle have the right balance of being challenging and making you think without being over your head. I found myself challenged but never too frustrated by this book, and the wide variety of puzzles made the book always enjoyable. I would strongly recommend buying this book, and consider it as a shorter, more engaging, and more satisfying alternative to sudoku.

I actually learned about the kenken from Will Shortz. I bought this book as a gift for my mother. I was happy with it. She hasn't told me how happy she is with it, but she likes similar mind games.
