About the Director
Filmmaker Kevin R. Hershberger graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army for eight years. Kevin next wrote and directed the multi-award-winning feature film, "Wicked Spring" (2001) -- An epic character study of lost soldiers during the American Civil War, released worldwide by Ardustry Home Entertainment in December 2003. The release has been a phenomenal success so far with nearly 100,000 DVDs sold. As director, producer and screenwriter, Kevin completed his second feature film, "No Retreat From Destiny" in 2006, which was recently released on DVD. In late 2006, Kevin directed/produced the new Indie-film "The Scarlet Letters" for production company Virginia Reel, LLC. This film is part of a seven-story feature about the seven deadly sins. Kevin worked as '2nd Unit Director' for Eleventh Day Entertainment's new documentary "For Love of Liberty," the story of African-American soldiers from the Revolution to Iraq. This 3-hour program will air nationally in November 2007. Kevin wrote his first screenplay while at VMI and most of his 15 scripts, thus far, deal with his passion for American history. Of late, Kevin is a founder of the new Virginia Production Alliance, judge for the Virginia Governor s Screenwriting Competition, and Jury panelist for the VCU International Student Film Festival. Kevin also sits on the advisory panel of the Virginia Governor's Motion Picture Committee. Kevin's films have won 38 film festival and international industry awards, including six for directing. Product Description
This extensive and exclusive DVD celebrates the 225th anniversary re-enactment of America s momentous 1781 Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown, Virginia. The four-day commemorative event was held October 19-22, 2006, with many of the events staged on the original field. Four different battle re-enactments feature re-enactors from around the world portraying Continental Soldiers, American Militia and Riflemen, German Hessians, British Regulars, the French Army in America as well as cavalry, artillery, camps, 18th century women and sutlers. Our cameras were "embedded" with these soldiers on the field of battle and in their camps, carrying the viewer on this journey to final victory in the American Revolution. For the first time in 225 years, and within days of the actual anniversary of the formal British surrender, nearly 2,000 re-enactors met on the original, hollowed "Surrender Field" to commemorate the British defeat to the allied American and French forces led by General George Washington. Never since 1781 had this event been re-staged so authentically. Directed by multi-award winning filmmaker Kevin R. Hershberger, this is a commemorative DVD unlike any other ever produced about the American Revolution. with exciting sound effects, dynamic editing and cameras that were "embeded" with these 18th century soldiers - this DVD is an unprecedented document of a justly honored battle for American Independence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational, January 15, 2009
This is a very unique and educational DVD. I'm glad someone took the time to create it. Anyone with a historical interest in the American Revolution should take a look at this DVD.

I enjoyed this film and found it fascinating. For people interested in the American Revolution let me also suggest the fictional Revolutionary War film with lots of battle scenes The Deserter.

Every Rev. War re-enactor especially should see this film! No other film shows as much detail for the battle of Yorktown!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yorktown, December 18, 2008
A good DVD, this shows the Battle of Yorktown, using the 225th reenactment, as it says clearly on the cover and the description for anyone who missed it. This is not a movie, or a program on the History Channel; if so, it would have been a lot worse. This offers the audience a look at what happened during the battle, giving an idea of the real time and feel. If you want cliff notes to the battle with someone feeding you information and praising America's struggle against tyranny with an orchestra in the background, go to the less than perfect History Channel. If you want a much deeper look at the Battle of Yorktown specifically, then this is perfect. For the other comment on this product, clearly, the person had no idea what they were talking about.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!, May 31, 2009
I bought this hoping that it would be an additional source of information about the Battle of Yorktown. However, upon watching it, the producers forgot that this is a time of "sound" in pictures and not the "silent picture" period of time. After about 5 minutes of watching it I was bored to death! Don't waste your time and money buying this DVD as it doesn't even work as a paperweight!

I had expected this to have some narration, but it's just the marching and battling. That's not terrible, I guess, and as a reenactor myself, it's fun to watch, but two hours of... Read more
