1.0 out of 5 stars The video is incorrect. Miwoks were not the original Native Americans of Yosemite., July 10, 2006
This review is from: Yosemite: Ahwahnee Style [VHS] (VHS Tape)
That is biggest mistake there ever was. The biggest mistake in California Indian History. The original Native Americans of Yosemite were Paiutes.

The Miwoks were not the original American Indians of Yosemite, but they were the guides and scouts for Jim Savage and the Mariposa Battalion.

They were afraid to enter Yosemite Valley and called the original Ahwahneechees "the Killers" because they feared them.

I guess history was re-written to fit those who aided in those first non-Indians who entered Yosemite Valley.

The groups that became the Miwoks were actually the Indian miners for James Savage and other white miners. When James Savage was killed they cried "our white father is dead". That certainly wasn't Chief Tenaya's people. Since they disliked James Savage.

That is all documented in Lafayette H. Bunnell's book "The Discovery of the Yosemite". This video must is bogus.

Read that book instead and you will see the truth. That was the only book written by the only man to meet and write about Chief Tenaya and his band. Who were primarily Mono Paiutes and not Miwuks.

Those to aided the intruders were left to re-write history of Yosemite.
