5.0 out of 5 stars Great book in a great series!, January 10, 2010

This review is from: Yosemite: Harrowing Ascent of Half Dome (Adventures with the Parkers) (Paperback)
If you love national parks, you will love the great series Adventures with the Parkers by Mike Graf. In this book, Harrowing Ascent of Half Dome, the fictional Parker family is visiting Yosemite National Park. The Parkers go to climbing school, see the famous waterfalls, sequoias, and rock formations, and have bear encounters. Best of all, the family climbs up the back side of Half Dome. Mr. Graf has done a fantastic job of describing Yosemite, which is one of my favorite spots on earth. I highly recommend this series for upper elementary through middle school readers. The series will appeal to all readers. Even though the book is fiction, it contains many nonfiction factoids (climbing, animal life, waterfalls, etc.) and a map of Yosemite Valley. The color photographs, many taken by Mr. Graf himself, are fabulous. There are also many black and white sketches, which add to the visual appeal of the book. I enjoyed this book very much and highly recommend it!
