5.0 out of 5 stars "Big Hits during the '50s on the Billboard Charts ~ Eddie Fisher", August 6, 2005
This review is from: You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet / I Love You (Audio CD)
The young crooner Eddie Fisher was a protégé of the famous comedian Eddie Cantor (If You Knew Susie Like I Know Susie)...during the '50s Mr. Fisher was RCA Victor's top-selling pop vocalist along with Perry Como and Elvis Presley...Eddie's signature song was "Any Time" which always opened his 15 minute TV Show called "Coke Time" (1953) and was universally the spokesman for the soft drink... Collectables Records and RCA Victor presents "YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN' YET" (1968)..."I LOVE YOU" (1955)..."A GIRL, A GIRL" (1954)...featuring the son of Russian Jewish immigrants who were so proud of their boy Mr. Eddie Fisher.

Many of Al Jolson's (was Eddie's idol growing up) popular hits from "You Ain't Heard Nothin' Yet" in alphabetical order are:
ANNIVERSARY SONG
APRIL SHOWERS
BACK IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD
I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU
LET ME SING AND I'M HAPPY
MY MAMMY
ROCK-A-BYE YOUR BABY WITH A DIXIE MELODY
SONNY BOY
SWANEE
WHEN YOU WERE SWEET SIXTEEN
YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU

Second part of the album is "I Love You" with sparkling arrangements by Hugo Winterhalter and His 65 piece orchestra...Hugo and Eddie worked together many times.
GIRL THAT I MARRY,THE (from the musical "Annie Get Your Gun")
I CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING BUT LOVE (from the film "Born Yesterday")
I SURRENDER, DEAR
LET'S FALL IN LOVE
LOVE SENDS A LITTLE GIFT OF ROSES
LOVE SOMEBODY
MY ONE AND ONLY LOVE
MY ROMANCE (from the musical "Jumbo")
PRETTY BABY
SO IN LOVE (from the musical "Kiss Me Kate")
SOMEBODY LOVES ME
WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED LOVE (from the musical "Wake Up and Dream)

Lastly we have "A Girl, A Girl" with four songs inclusive and Hugo Winterhalter:
A GIRL, A GIRL(ZOOM-BA DI ALLI NELLA)
MANY TIMES (one of my all time favorite Fisher hits)
OH MY PA-PA (O MEIN PAPA) (from the musical "Fireworks")
WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL (ANEMA E CORE)

Not bad for a kid born on August 10, 1928 from Philadelphia, PA...who could belt out a song with the best of them...finally a collection of tunes from my favorite singer when I was growing up in the midwest...nevermind his private life and the bad publicity, his talent was enormous and the songs where right from the heart...good to see this release, hope to see more of the same...gotta love it!

Total Time: 76:00 on 27 Tracks ~ Collectables Records 2834 ~ (4/16/2002)

3.0 out of 5 stars Eddie Fisher and Al Jolson, May 6, 2009

I watched Eddie Fisher when I was a kid, when he was doing the coke show. I don't know what happened. I guess my taste have changed as I've gotten older. I was a little disappointed. His voice wasn't as I remembered it. Al Jolson he ain't. But I continue to listen to the cd. Some songs bring back memories.

4.0 out of 5 stars How About That "Sunshine Girl", October 5, 2006
This review is from: You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet / I Love You (Audio CD)
Eddie Fisher was the biggest star of his era. Not only was he precious to look at on television, he was always a natural showman. "May I Sing To You" brought him into the homes of all the teenybobbers in the Fifties, and we watched in awe as he shone in the terestrial sphere we all shared back then. The fanclub I was president and founder in Knoxville was called "The Fisher Notes," named by my brother Cecil. I wrote to NBC about him and made the network news as they said they thought the letter had to have been written by Debbie Reynolds. She hoped! He made bad choices in his personal life, but his music will live on and on and on. We thank God for such a natural American-born singer and wish him the best.
