4.0 out of 5 stars The Progression of The Beta Band., February 23, 2001

Just before the release of To You Alone/Sequensizer the Beta Band described how thier sound was changing. They felt the previous two albums sounded like they were walloing through the mud, but now thier tripping through the daisies. To You Alone/Sequensizer has more in common with singer Steve Mason's side project "King Biscut Time" than the previous Beta Band LP's. The sound is cleaner and there is an emphasis on drum machines and jagged rythms similar to such hip-hop producers as Timbaland. Fans of "King Biscuit Time" or anyone familliar with the live shows will find this a logical and enjoyable point in the progression of The Beta Band.

The Beta Band's first "official" album, "The Beta Band", recieved a lot of harsh criticism from the public and even the Beta Band themselves(which I believe was undeserved, but that's beside the point)... As a result, the Beta Band felt it their duty to redeem themselves, and this is their effort in doing so. With only 2 tracks, this album somehow proves itself worthy to stand with its fellow EP's, Champion Versions, The Patty Patty Sound, and Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos(which were made into a compilation disc quaintly entitled "The Three EP's")... Its tracks are masterful... The first, "To You Alone", is a trip hoppish, rap rhythm driven track. Good for driving and sitting on your ... The second is "Sequinsizer", a funky dance track that is impossible not to move and groove to... Is the disc worth "the money"? Maybe. For hardcore fans... But for 2 tracks? Get the mp3's, children. Still, that's not saying this CD isn't worth a sum... Wow :)
