Declan Galbraith "You and Me",
By
This review is from: You & Me (Audio CD)
I searched forEVER for this CD & cannot wait for it to be back "IN STOCK" here at Amazon! Thank you Amazon for finally making it available to us here in the states!
As I said in my review of Declan's earlier CD "Thanks You" CD (If you have not heard it, listen to "An Angel" & "Tears In Heaven" from it. Both sooo... moving, REALLY, absolutely beyond words!!!) We stumbled on to his music while searching youtube for Billy Gilman's music, & were absolutely blown away by Declan's voice! Some people have criticized him for singing songs that are too old for him to have adequate life experience to perform adequately, to them I say, "Get a life people!" He is just singing songs he has heard & likes, AS DO WE ALL! The point is that he sounds as good if not BETTER than the original artists did & he has not yet even begun to tap into the full potential of what he has to offer! Mark my words, this kid is going to be HUGE! You will be hearing his praises sung across the USA as they are now in Germany, (His "Thanks You" album has already gone gold there, & they don't even speak English as their primary language!) Also as a parting note, I wanted to add, from what I have seen & heard of him from interviews, TV appearances etc, this is one young man with both feet firmly on the ground! He is set apart from your average teen star, in as much as he is sincerely humble & not egotistical in any way! It's so refreshing, which adds to his appeal! His music crosses ALL age barriers, although young girls will be enamored by his good looks (can't really blame them, he is a handsome lad!) Did I say that his manager gave him a guitar 2 years ago & now he is writing his own songs, take a listen to "Moody Blues on this "You and Me" CD, & even though he is now 16, he can still hit high notes out of the stratosphere, listen to "Nothing Else Matters" on "You and Me" & see for yourself! Another original song, "You and Me" same as the title of this CD, will tug at hearts & strike a note of truth for many in unhappy relationships. The lyrics are compelling of themselves, but the DELIVERY via Declan's emotional, expressive powerful voice NAILS this song!! Can you tell I'm QUITE impressed by this young man!! When God was passing out the talent I think HIS cup ran over on Declan Galbraith! Listen & see for yourself!

Recorded when he was 15 and released on his 16th birthday, this album is the beginning of his promise fulfilled. He just keeps getting better!

Always Amazes Me,
By Dan Dejeu (Portland, OR, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You & Me (Audio CD)
Although I prefer his 14 year old voice, his voice now still blows me away. His choice in songs has pretty much stayed the same, but I am grateful that he has original songs on the album, too. And one of the originals was written by Declan himself.
Again, my top 5 would have to be: You And Me, Ego You, Nothing Else Matters, Everybody Tells Me, and I'd Love You To Want Me. His falsetto on Nothing Else Matters amazes me, even though many people would call it "ruining" the song. I actually think he did a wonderful job. All my other top favorites just move me to tears. Anyone should buy this album. It is a great addition to any CD collection, so you will not be disappointed.
