5.0 out of 5 stars Classic!, February 10, 2002
This review is from: You Are My Angel (Audio CD)
Like many others in my generation, I was introduced to Horace Andy through his work with Massive Attack. The soulful falsetto cast a spell on me, and I had to seek out his solo work. Unfortunately, much of it is out of print or never made the transition to CD, and we are left with a number of "best-of" comps.

Thankfully, Trojan re-released "You Are My Angel" in 1996. It's not quite the Blood and Fire treatment (check out their amazing reissue of "In the Light"), but it'll do. The album contains the original artwork and a nice essay about Messr. Andy.

And the music! Horace Andy's own compositions more than satisfy (the classic title cut, "John Saw Them Coming," "I'll Forgive You,"), and his choice of covers (Frankie Lymon's "I'm Not a Know It All," Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine," Bobby Darin's "Dream Lover"....) is simply ace! The true substance of the music lies in the soulful delivery of Horace Andy. I know few more beautiful or heartfelt in reggae.
