4.0 out of 5 stars Gems of clarity & wisdom April 18, 2008
Format:Hardcover
First off, a full disclosure statement: I worked on selecting content for this book.

Having said that, what struck me was how many really uplifting nuggets of clarity and wisdom are to be found in John Morton's writings and talks. I personally love the shorter selections--which are featured here in greater number than in John's first book, The Blessings Already Are. In addition to their usefulness, there is a sparkle and often a hint of humor in them.

My particular favorite starts out with "Go on a happiness safari..." and ends with "and if that pursuit takes you into the wild, then be wildly happy." This is representative of John's positive-without-being-a-Pollyanna approach to life.

I liked working on the book. I loved the final product. I hope others are similarly moved and lifted by this collection of John Morton gems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Look beyond the cover art... April 24, 2008
Format:Hardcover
For me, it was the introduction alone that moved me. Really, in my busy life of doing business and getting from A to B I paused for a brief moment and read the intro. The book was a birthday gift. A peace and knowing came over me as I read the words, transforming my often fear-based thoughts of losing what I have into a kind, nuturing feeling of being blessed. What a beautiful way to reframe the many gifts I have - to feel blessed and grateful; instead of attached and needy.

Don't let the cover influence your decision. To me it does not do much to talk of blessings. I mean babies are sweet and are a blessing to those who have them I suppose...(but I don't have one...so I don't quite get it...). Needless to say it's a dust jacket; so I removed it to reveal the gorgeous embossed cloth bound hardcover which reminds me of a timeless collection of blessings! Much nicer...

To me blessings are the act of peacemaking. The very thing needed in this time of war and terror focus. Make blessings not war...I say...

A wonderful book, by a kind and loving man. Peacemaker and light worker.
Blessings to all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite, beautiful and inspiring May 5, 2008
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
You Are The Blessings touches my heart and gives me great hope and joy. The sometimes quite short readings remind me of a better, more uplifting way to view my challenges and the world as a whole. What excites me about the notion that I am the blessings is that everyone else is also "the blessings" - when I choose to see blessings. Even and particularly my "adversaries". The blessings are always there, sometimes in disguise, sometimes waiting to be uncovered.

The Pygmalion effect tells us that what we expect is what we get. What if I expect to appreciate the blessings in all I encounter? What if I grow to value and appreciate the blessings that I am? What if I choose to live in a world, as if it were a "field of blessings"? No matter what my material circumstances, that would surely improve the quality of my life and the lives of those around me. This book gives me many ways I can nurture that reality in my everyday life. What a blessing is that!

An added bonus is the CD included with the book - lovely to go to sleep to last thing at night. I highly recommend You Are The Blessings. It will be one of my Christmas and birthday presents to give during this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Book April 28, 2008
Format:Hardcover
This is a book of wonderful points of view that can be read all at once or a section at a time to savor. I recommend the savoring method as there is so much to whet the mind & soul. To give ample reason to take that next breath. A reason for that next step in your life whatever that may be. A reason to love more deeply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Altered my view on life, truly profound... April 25, 2008
Format:Hardcover
Recently received "You are the Blessings" book by John Morton from my favorite Amazon.com and was moved beyond words.

His book has some of the most uplifting and life changing messages that I have even read. He is up there with some of the greatest writers! Easy to read and to understand and I loved the format with Reflection passages and Meditations and Prayers on so many topics of interest to me and I would gather us all.

This book has a permanent spot near my night stand. Continues to inspire and lift me to new altitudes inside myself whenever I pick up and read.

Really loved Refelection passage on page 174 about Loving.."Loving your life, your cars, what you do as your work, the paint on your wall," all...

Reminded me so much of Khalil Gibran and His Prophet book. Another one of my favorites, if you are inspired by Gibran you will love this!

I truly believe this book will go down and be seen as life changing and as altering as Gibran's work.
Thank you John Morton, I truly recommend this book highly and would also suggest a great read for all who are challenged and who want to Love God and Love themselves and all aspects of their lives in deeper ways.

There is also a webclass he gives on the Internet, would be good to also listen to in conjunction with this amazing book.
