5.0 out of 5 stars Rocks - Front to Back
I kind of stopped buying CD's for a while, cause I was tired of spending $15 on what turned out to be 3 good songs and a bunch of filler. I saw these guys play a couple of times, and liked them more each time I saw them, so I picked up the CD. Gotta say that it's really good from front to back. "Best Thing" is a surefire radio hit (along with a couple others if they get a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Potential
The first three tracks are wonderful, and it's a testament to the band's maturity that even though the rest of the CD is made of far-ranging sounds it still displays remarkable coherency as an album. Dropline's really mastered the simple band sound and should avoid forays into more complicated material that too often the album slips into. It's unfortunate that the...

I saw these guys play a couple of times, and liked them more each time I saw them, so I picked up the CD. Gotta say that it's really good from front to back. "Best Thing" is a surefire radio hit (along with a couple others if they get a chance), and the rest of the album really grows on you.

Seems like most artists don't pay attention to putting together a whole album anymore, just a collection of songs. But the Dropline disc works not just because of the quality but also the order of the songs - it holds together as one piece. Well balanced.

If you like Oasis, "brit-rock", Rubyhorse and the like give this a shot. Listen to the whole CD twice in a row and you'll be hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect mellow American sing-along!, September 24, 2003
This review is from: You Are Here (Audio CD)
I first heard these guys on my computer, God bless the internet. Can`t say I was blown away, cause their single "Fly Away" was the only one I could find. Sure it is a great song, but the rest of the album is brilliant. Dropline mix rock & pop& pieces of genious into a well produced Cd here. Steve Sulikowski has a very clean voice, but he also knows how to rock it. Tracks that stand out are "No Time At All", "Fallen Angel", "Weight of the World"....hard to choose really! I gave it 5 stars cause of many highlights, and absolutely no especially weaker tracks. A "Must Buy" for anyone who are into alternative, pop-rock artists! It is well worth the money spent!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jolly good fun!, August 30, 2002
This review is from: You Are Here (Audio CD)
This album sort of reminds me when Vertical Horizon hit the scene with their incredibly melodic and beautiful "Everything you want." Every song a keeper, every lyric a masterpiece. Well, Dropline is sporting the same thing. A great repertoire of songs that simply rise above the boring clout so many bands are putting out these days. It isn't surprising these fellas have such a great album-none other than David Foster is the one who discovered them and quite simply, David Foster is the poo when it comes to unique and sure fire talent-take a big whiff everyone! Realize, I didn't say hitmakers, I said TALENT! It's tiring hearing the same boring artists that have no talent and present nothing that we haven't seen or heard so many times before. It's great to see that Dropline's time has finally come and it's refreshing to see a band that can actually write great things without having to be anything but naturally brilliant! Can't wait to see these guys live! By the way, the lead singing voice of this band if OFF THE HOOK! This fella can belt them out!

Dropline's really mastered the simple band sound and should avoid forays into more complicated material that too often the album slips into. It's unfortunate that the quality of the first three tracks cannot be maintained for the entire album, but there is enough promise here that I will hope they sit down, listen to a lot of Tom Petty and emerge with a much clearer image of what they want Dropline to be.

This band almost seems to good to be true. The whole CD is great, unusual these days. A well rounded effort and a must have for your collection. I will go to see them live when they come to Miami. Look for good things from them in the future.

This CD is absolutely amazing. You cannot shut it off. All twelve songs are potential hits. I saw them perform live in Boston after seeing them on Jay Leno. Don't miss them if they come to your area. The variety of songs and styles makes me want more.............

5.0 out of 5 stars Hottest New Band Around, July 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: You Are Here (Audio CD)
I pre-ordered this CD before it's release on a whim, after running across dropline's great website, and hearing Fly Away From Here. It is one whim I'll never regret! Haven't stopped listening to it yet...it just gets better with every playing. All the songs reveal something new every time I hear them. This band can ONLY get better and better, I think. No two songs are alike...the lyrics are meaningful...the musicianship is brilliant and refreshing. Music has been a bit boring lately, but dropline has sure remedied that for me. I look forward to more and more and more of this hot new band, for a long time to come:) Hey!! Thanks dropline!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Album, July 16, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: You Are Here (Audio CD)
Just picked up the new Dropline Album, hot off the press. I love the tune that is their single - Fly Away From Here, but sometimes a band is a one hit wonder. Believe me, that does not fit Dropline. Another problem with many new bands is that all their songs sound alike. This album has a lot of variety, each tune has it's own personality, and they stick in your mind.

The first cut - No Time At All - showcases their great musicianship along with words that cut right through to real life. Check out the guitar solo on The Best Thing - Killer.

On Even I Don't Know, there is a real change of pace. The other tunes are harder rockers, but this is acoustic, more laid back, with a great hook. Solid harmony, along with tight guitar playing makes this a real winner for me.

I think this band will have real staying power. If you are looking for alternative rock that you won't tire of quickly, I recommend this album.
