5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking!
House of Wires play music similar to Depeche Mode, only much better. The lyrics are deep, and the songs are intense. The song "Mother" will make you want to cry. I recommend this CD for everyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Um... Is New Wave Retro Now?
Who gave these clowns their Casio keyboard and Radio Shack mics? Actually, I saw their equipment list and it would make the Chemical Brothers jealous. But somehow, these spoiled brats from Orange County managed to fill a WHOLE CD with total You see what fundamentalist christian dogma can do to your children?! Christ folks, do us a favor and stick to the songs in...

5.0 out of 5 stars sonorous synth, December 17, 2001
By
This review is from: You Are Obsolete (Audio CD)
This album is somewhat melancholy- like someone nearing the end of a long romance, but at peace with himself, gaining a perspective on the world. "Where is my Mind?" is an awe inspiring, spacy synth version of the Pixies' classic. The others are wonderful synth songs like those you can listen to on their later release, Monogamy (...).

House of Wires distill the smooth, high production values of great New Wave bands and adds maturity, sophistication, and lots of sounds I've never heard out of a synthesizer before. The vocalist has a pleasing, sonorous voice; the music is all wonderfully listenable and enjoyable without being boring. I bore easily so I listen to mostly alternative styles of music; there is nothing better than finding an artist that does very new things in a truly listenable and enjoyable way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad CD, August 16, 1999

I listened to this CD at my friends house and it was ok. The beats are good but the vocals they could do without. Joy Electric is good with vocals but somehow it doesn't fit with House of Wires. All in all a CD worth buying. I bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1st band off plastiq music label, January 16, 1999

this band has an awesome 80s techno sound. Vocals sound Brit-Popish, just how I like em! Ronnie Martin of Joy Electric does production on this one. All in all a great band, well worth checking out. Psalm 63:3

4.0 out of 5 stars !!! NICE WAY TO SPOON BEND FOR A WHILE !!!, May 6, 2005
This review is from: You Are Obsolete (Audio CD)
FOR ONLY A HOUSE OF WIRES, THESE GUYS GREAT A GALAXY OF INTENSE RELAXATION. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CD'S YOU JUST PUT YOUR HEADPHONES ON, SMOKE A J, AND JUST RELAX WHILE STARING AT FLUFFY CLOUDS. NOT THE BEST CD, BUT FOR WHAT IT IS, IT IS GOOD. FOR FANS OF RADIO HEAD AND DEPECHE MODE.
