This review is from: You Are Our Voice: Articles, Essays, and Interviews About Global Women Entrepreneuring and Women's Issues (Paperback)
This is not a book that should used as a adjunct text in any context. My colleague gave it to me to read, and I was shocked - it is rife with misspellings, poorly written passages, and questionable linkages between the women in the book and the author's activities. This book reads like the senior theses turned in by my undergraduate students, except my students know to edit their writing, and utilize spell check, before turning their papers into me. More should be written about women in the former Soviet Union. I hope they will find a more coherent voice than this one.

You Are Our Voice is one of the best introductions to the courage, perseverence, intelligence and ingenuity of women succeeding in spite of great odds. It serves to introduce us to worlds which we can hardly imagine. And yet I feel that we all share significant common vision and heart, at every level. I have bought 12 copies of the book, so far. Everyone should know of Suzanne's work and of the spirit of these women.

Very positive, a well timed publication,

This review is from: You Are Our Voice: Articles, Essays, and Interviews About Global Women Entrepreneuring and Women's Issues (Paperback)
This book is a unique attempt to summersize the best practises of women striving for their economic sustainability. Susanne showed deep and thorough comprehension and knowledge of the environment women in the transition countries operate in. It is a very needed and well timed publication sharing global technologies and mechanisms that help to envision and achieve sucess. Very encouraging and empowering. Though not everyone is ready to consume this with an open mind, and a review below convinced me with this thought. Changes start from within. More publications of this kind will make the world a cosy place to live in.

This book is wonderful example of women input into global economy. You feel yourself as a vital part of international process, you understand that many women all over the word face with the same challenges as you face and become the winners. You would not feel yourself alone when you reed this supportive book. You will find new friend on the pages. Susanne Jalbert has real talent in communication and creation new links between different people on our small planet.

Disappointing,
By Nino Rekhvilishvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Are Our Voice: Articles, Essays, and Interviews About Global Women Entrepreneuring and Women's Issues (Paperback)
I found this book to be quite exaggerated. Taken at face value, you would think that women entrepreneurs in the former Soviet States have trouble with accounting and taxes because of inferior natural abilities and that only those enlightened by Western consultants can handle GAAP accounting standards. The level of knowledge possessed by Ms. Jalbert can be summed up in her translation of "of course" on page 44, "knisha". Which is not correct - "konyeshna" is closer to the proper translation/transliteration. "Knisha" is closest to "knishka" - or little book. Which she doesn't know, as she doesn't speak Russian, except for four or five words she badly abuses. (I have attended one of Ms. Jalbert's courses on Business Plan training) Not all women of the former Soviet bloc are as helpless as she portrays. We are capable of great things.

You Are Our Voice, Articles, Essays, and Interviews About Global Women Entrepreneuring and Women's Issues - by Dr. Susanne E. Jalbert is conscious-raising and has excellent writing! The book is an important discussion/documentation of how - when given training and tools - women's business ideas, capabilies and achievements can surpass expectations. It is quite obvious that Dr. Jalbert is a superior business consultant and that her efforts have enhanced the lives of many women and their families. I plan to get additional copies of this book for holiday gifts.
