This book is very different than the usual fare. It's very poetic. The ideas confused my 7 year old initially, but after I clued her in a bit, she stares at it endlessly. It's very inspiring for young minds. The illustrations are great. If you want to get your little ones to think outside the box just a bit, this is a pleasant way to do it; plants a wonderful seed.

Beautiful, scientific and spiritual. My 5.5 year old enjoys it very much and it really helps address the cycle of life and miracle of existence... perfect for the child of agnostics who still find wonder in the world.
I think that the concepts introduced so gently and positively help set the foundation for other ventures into life science, astronomy, and physics. For instance, my son skinned his hand on the playground and, amidst the tears, told me it was ok because he would grow new skin, "just like in we are made of stardust, mummy."

I read the reviews for this book and they are spot on. This book is full of interesting information about our natural world, our place in it, and "the surprising connections to nature that we all share." It's is both comforting and informative. Not a book I would recommend for a creationist - there is definitely an evolutionary slant here. The artwork is superb! Each 2 page spread is a colorful diorama illustrating the text and my son (8) and I had fun figuring out the materials that were used in each piece. We liked this book so much, we bought a second copy to give his Montessori classroom as a gift.

This book is a wonderful, and touching way to introduce and reinforce our connection to nature with younger children. I used this as a read a loud with my 4 children (2yo, 3yo, 5yo, and 9yo) and between the thought provoking words, and the stunning illustrations, they have named this their new favorite, and it's mine too <3 I love this book so much!

This book is our sons favorite. The illustrations are incredible and the content describes the amazing degree to which humans are interconnected with nature. The facts presented in the book are all scientifically researched and accurate. This book will be sure to entertain your newborn/infant when they are young and spark fascinating conversations when your child is old enough to ask questions. Highly recommended. We are all, in fact, stardust.

I was so excited for this book to arrive, more so than my kids. However, when reading this it became clear that this book had so much more potential than what was displayed. Its narrative is more common short facts and less wonderment.
