Book Description

May 1, 2006
You Are What You Love makes Eastern mysticism friendly to the Western mind. Author Vaishali, an intellectual, yet highly irreverent mystic, magically mixes concepts and story-telling from such traditional sources as Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Sufism, with the ancient mystic, Emmanuel Swedenborg, as well as with unconventional sources, from Groucho Marx, to Cheech and Chong, Jimi Hendrix, James Dean, and Homer Simpson. Is your mind your best friend or your worst enemy? You Are What You Love empowers readers to befriend their minds and resolve their issues, instead of defending and justifying the limitation in their lives. How is it that we come to love what is self- destructive and disabling? Demonstrating how to transform limiting beliefs, You Are What You Love delivers the secret to finding happiness and one's purpose - especially for those who have hit a pothole on the road to enlightenment. One of the most powerful points of the book is that "we do not have love, we are love. We don't earn it; we don't have to justify it; we don't have to wait until others decide we are good enough; we claim it because we are it." Dannion Brinkley, the best selling author of Saved By The Light, calls You Are What You Love, "brilliant," stating that Vaishali has the most original slant on spirituality he has ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keys to creating the world we choose December 21, 2006
Format:Paperback
The things that pop out from the

reading were:

1. You (Vaishali) are the world's biggest fan of Swedenborg;

2. Life is not a test- it is a practice (I particularly love that bite);

3. You are what you put your focus on ("where attention goes, energy flows"- Michael Bechwith);

4. focusing on the hardships and stresses of life only recreates them (the notion of hell);

5 focusing on the abundance of the universe only creates

them (the notion of Heaven);

6. Dreams are a way of getting in touch with the subconscious;

7. Feelings are a more accurate barometer of our truth than the thoughts and beliefs of our mind;

8. We create our own reality with where we put our love, i.e., our attention and emotionally charged foucs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spirituality for Modern Times January 26, 2007
Format:Paperback
Vaishali speaks with a clarity rarely seen in so many spiritual-self help books of today. She sets out a clear path to not only what people have called "enlightenment" but a path toward wakefulness and understanding. The path is simple: Love, or rather, Love in act. This book is written with the growth of the reader as the goal. Refreshing and on target.

Vaishali writes with humor, candor and simplicity. She states that the information is not new, but the approach is. She lays out the path to a better way vividly by means that most will pick up on immediately. I purchased the CD first. It was brief, but had a strong message, however, I needed more detail to get a fuller understanding. The 400 page book provides that and more. In fact, her clear, lucid presentation was a shock. She consistently used references to many diferent religions to make her points. Her frequent references to the principles of Ayurvedic medicine and beliefs as well as Chinese Medicine were quite informative This is easily one of the best books on spirituality available!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some of this does not ring true for me March 21, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The premise of the book is that you create what ever you focus on, and that what you focus on is what you love. However, one can focus on anything, it does not mean you love it. So right from the beginning I was not following what she said. I will point out a couple of other points that did not ring true for me, though there were more than a couple. Here is one example:
On page 99 she writes: "Red is the color associated with Christ consciousness." That is the complete opposite of what I have ever heard, read, seen or experienced. Red is usually seen in the root chakra, or at least associated with that area most of the time, and gold in the halo area. Not that there is anything wrong with red. But its the opposite end in the spectrum of color.

She also wrote that Angels used to be people in other incarnations, no exceptions. There are authors who work with angels and they do not make that claim.

Then there is the idea that everything you see outside of yourself is in your own mind first or it would not be reflected back to you. Yet Jesus is pure and was dealing with duality. How could duality it be reflected back to him if he doesn't have it? Perhaps its because we are all One? If that is true, then the first premise is not true. We do see what is not from us.
My reading experience with this book was that I felt like I was trying to get clarity from muddled thoughts, that I was reading a report from a compilation of books she read. It wasn't clear, it was redundant and a tad preachy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful and enlightening conversation. June 2, 2008
Format:Paperback
Vaishali's exquisite You Are What You Love reminds me of a stimulating conversation so juicy it is worth staying up all night to enjoy. The subject matter bridges the metaphysical with the practical and makes the subject matter an exciting adventure for both the mind and the heart. The choice of subtopics reflects the wisdom of the author; and her humility and love shine through on every page. Lighthearted without being lightweight, this is a book I'd recommend to the neophyte as well as the spiritual sophisticated. You Are What You Love is an excellent read: I'll look forward to Vaishali's future works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Spiritual Guide for the 21st Century July 20, 2006
Format:Paperback
If life has got you by the short hairs, you'd better check this book out. It's really wild, and at the same time, reaches a level of depth you are not going to find elsewhere.

Vaishali is a brilliant teacher of consciousness. Her understanding of spirituality far surpasses most individuals. After all, who do you know who can talk about the spirituality of Mini-Me as easily as she can talk about the world's major religions?

I have interviewed tons of best selling authors in the field of spirituality and consciousness, and truthfully, Vaishali stands above most of them. She is also extremely funny, so you are going to enjoy this book a lot.

Randy Peyser, author of "Crappy to Happy," "Miracle Thinking" (upcoming) and contributor to "Healing the Heart of the World."
