5.0 out of 5 stars long live EL DUCE!!!!
there are two things that make me get up every morning and those two things are pornography and rock n'roll. If you love those two things as much as I do then you should buy this album.

2.0 out of 5 stars They're no Intense Mutilation, but...........
they certainly were interesting. A lot of their style was already being done by the NYC trio, Intense Mutilation and GG Allin. And done better. But they were funny, at least back in the 80s.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even pigs have tasty parts..., February 27, 2001
This review is from: You Axed For It! (Audio CD)
Let's be honest, El Duce was a pig. Even the ugliest pig can produce beautiful slabs of bacon as this album proves with (as painful as it is to say) classic tracks like "Heterosexuals Have The Right To Rock" and "Golden Shower". The ridiculous and somehow hilarious lyrics on this record prove also that pigs are truly one of the smartest animals.

"You Axed For It" is one of those little metal nuggets that were buried under continents of eighties chaff. No respectable record company would touch these guys, hence their rereleases by notorious Metal Blade and subsequent no name "import only" labels. I originally purchased this on cassette at a 1986 Mentors show in Seattle and it wore out fast! Excellent proto-speed metal guitar riffs, heavy bass, garbage can drums (the rusted out bottom variety), funny intros ( pssssss...) and lyrics that would make Andrew Dice Clay blush, this was the one all of my pimply faced seventeen year old friends wanted to hear at the pit party after all the chicks had paired off with someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Men's Liberation Movement, November 21, 2005
This review is from: You Axed for It (Audio CD)
This record and all other Mentors studio releases that follow are the collective propaganda organ of the true Men's Liberation Movement. Nurture your inner Heathen Scum. Dance with your personal Sickie Wifebeaters. Have a good cry with your repressed El Duce. Your manhood has been slumbering far too long. Let the gospel of the Mentors light the way to a brighter day.

5.0 out of 5 stars DON'T LISTEN TO ... WHO BASH THIS!!!, August 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: You Axed For It! (Audio CD)
... Beyond the crude (and hilarious) lyrics, is a band that actually can play, and play well. Yep, it's true...Sickie WIfebeater is one of THE best metal guitarists out there, and if you don't believe me, catch him play live if you ever get a chance, the guy is AMAZING. Dude was a great drummer, though lots of the time he opts for a straigtforward style, but he is a trained jazz drummer. His best drumming is definitely to the max, which isn't available here.

Yeah, i said it once, and i'll say it again, these guys are killer. And I know what i am talking about when speaking of musicians, being that i am a huge fan of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, in addition to Hendrix, Page, Iommi, James Murphy, Alex Scholnick....etcec.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Niche Market, January 11, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: You Axed for It (Audio CD)
This ain't for everybody. Why? Because most people have a limited humor.A Mentors tape was passed to me in 1984 by a fellow from Panther Burns when I was working some gigs in Memphis. I listened and larfed like a maniac. When I tried to give it back, the guy's wife said, KEEP IT---PLEASE!Just what is it here that displeases wives? (Tipper Gore, to my great amusement, quoted these gentlemen when she was lusting for record ratings.) Well.... it is the sort of rock and roll that seeks a laugh off the base insticts, the crude sort of thing that gets laughs out of guys after the beer hits. It's rude, it's dirty; the lyrics will either set your tongue to clucking or you will howl. The music is great metal--Mr. Wifebeater skews and wah-wahs and grinds and thrashes with the best of the pimply crew who pollute the genre today--and is a bit better. The Honorable Dr. Heathen Scum uses the bass as it was intended: as support, loud and on the riff.Oh, and the late El Duce was brilliant and in fine form.Buy this and laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Duce, August 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: You Axed For It! (Audio CD)
El Duce we miss you. Mentors #1. Brook. Incidentally the late, amusing, & somewhat offensive El Duce appeared as an extra in the film RAGING BULL: minus beard, but moustachio'd. Haven't checked for it yet, but I will do so this afternoon. Anyway, buy everything you see by the Mentors. Go Duce. A genuine eccentric, & a highly entertaining figure.

For a while now, El Duce has been an idol to me. This CD is the reason. It features great songs, with rocking guitars and percussion. This CD will definitely stand the test of time. YOU RULE, EL DUCE!!!!!! R.I.P.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why the import is called "You axed for ME?" is beyond me..., September 3, 1998

The original title of this album is "You axed for it", and was released on Metal Blade records in, I believe '85. Anyway, one of the CLASSIC Mentors albums of all time, it includes the anthem "4-F club", not to mention many, many others. Do not hesitate to purchase this album if you have not been exposed to the genius of the Mentors. RIP Duce, you are definitely missed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Undoubtebly, the best thing ever written since the Bible!!!, September 6, 2004
This review is from: You Axed For It! (Audio CD)
When I think of the heroes of rock n' roll, sure the familiar names like Elvis or G G Allin come to mind, but everyone seems to forget the one and only El Duce! Teamed up with Dr. Heathen Scum on bass, and, yes, Sickie Wifebeater on guitar, and Duce himself on drums and "vocals", The Mentors are the undisputed Kings of Sleaze! "You Axed for it!" is one of their best albums featuring such hits as the "Sandwich of love", "4F Club", "Sleep Bandits", "Free Fix for a F*ck", and the glorious "Judgement Day". This is the definitive album for scum bags, or "rape rockers"! Nothing compares! Rivaled only by "Up the Dose" and the "Trash Bag" EP! Oh, and while your rocking out to this, drinkin' and beatin' your wife, remember to always watch out for trains! PORN TO ROCK!!!
