You Belong To Me Introduces a New Voice in Romantic Suspense,
By
This review is from: You Belong to Me (Mass Market Paperback)
You Belong to Me is a keeps-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense from an exciting new author, Patricia Sargeant. A divorced couple, Nicole Collins and Malcolm Bryant, are reunited when his movie production company buys the rights to her science-fiction book series. Not only does the couple have to face unresolved emotions, but they discover there's someone who's deadly determined to stop their movie from being made. Their very survival depends on their ability to work together to catch a killer.
I enjoyed taking the roller-coaster ride along with Nicole and Malcolm, as they faced a murderous threat and struggled to deal with their past and their love. The insider look at the publishing industry and the movie-making business was fascinating and added a layer of detail to an already outstanding story. The characters were compelling--including the secondary ones--and easy to root for. And the plot twists were clever and unpredictable. I look forward to reading more by this talented author!

This book offers a type of love story that is somewhat difficult to pull off: two exes trying to get it right the second time around.
I loved Malcolm. He really rang true, especially with not wanting to show weakness around the woman he loved. He found it difficult to express his emotions, which was part of why they split up in the first place, despite still being crazy in love with each other. Nicole was good too. I liked how her devotion to her family made her face her fears of dealing with Malcolm on a daily basis. What woman wants to risk getting her heart broke again? But Nicole braves the situation in order to help out an ailing cousin. The book offers a nice blend of suspense and romance, an all around good read.

EXCELLENT DEBUT!!!!!!,

This review is from: You Belong to Me (Mass Market Paperback)
You Belong to Me was the perfect mix of romance and suspense. I loved several things about this novel. First, it had one of my favorite romance plots at its core, the lovers reunited plot. I love it when folks give love a second chance. (I guess that's why two of favorite love songs are Shalimar's "Second Time Around" and Peaches and Herb's "Reunited.") Anyway, Nicole Collins is a science fiction writer who finds that her ex-husband Malcolm Bryant owns a film company and he wants to buy the rights to her series. Add a crazed fan to the mix that doesn't want to see the "family" that he/she loves destroyed by Hollywood and you get a novel jam packed with intrigue and drama. I loved trying to figure out who the crazed fan and possible murderer was. And I loved all the twists and turns Ms. Sargeant put in along the way. The love story and the mystery are equally strong in this one. Pick this one up today!
