Karen Rose's new thriller You Belong To Me is dark, fast and smart. The pacing is keeps you turning the page right up to the very end where some readers may find themselves pleasantly surprised, which is the hallmark of any good book.
Years ago his sister was brutally attached as several people stood there and just watched. Now all he has left is his need for revenge. Dr. Lucy Trask recognized the victim and then the next. Now she must figure out what the victims have in common before she's next.
The romance flows nicely and is not really center stage in the story, but will give the avid romance reader what they long for. This is a dark thriller full of suspense and I highly recommend it to any hard core thriller readers.

YOU BELONG TO ME is the newest novel (her 12th published) by world-wide best-selling author Karen Rose.

In her latest thrilling novel, set in Baltimore, Rose takes her readers on a heart-stopping ride with Dr. Lucy Trask and detective J.D. Fitzpatrick. They are on the track of a sadistic killer, who is mysteriously entwined with Lucy's past and is slashing into her present life as well.

Plot twists, a terrifying look into the mind of a devious killer, and a conclusion that left me gasping for breath, make this the most exciting Rose novel to date.

Karen Rose is at the top of her game with "You Belong to Me" -- and I say that with each and every book she writes. Honestly, this one is my favorite to date. The villain is undescribably wicked and gruesome . . . but I found myself feeling a teeny bit sorry for the sadnesses within the villain's own life. Rose just keeps getting better and better in my opinion. The Baltimore setting, the new characters, and the storyline captivated my attention in this dark and chilling story. I was happy to see that Karen Rose turned up the romance a notch in this one, as well. I'm looking forward to what's in store for us with the next book in June, 2012, where we meet up with a character from the past.

I started out only lukewarm towards this book. I never like the mix of romantic fiction and thriller which this is and I suppose that is what kept me from warming to it at the start. I had to get past the too handsome cop who falls instantly for the beautiful, secretive and damaged heroine. This romance element was all too Mills and Boon. However , this is actually a really good police procedural style thriller. The plot is intricate and although I guessed who the bad guy was well before the denouement I still enjoyed it to the end. I was still only going to give 4 stars but in the end felt that was unfair. It kept me interested, it is packed full of suspense and is expertly put together. If I tell you what I did not like then you can judge for yourself if I am too generous. First the romance as already mentioned - and not because that is not well done because it was. I also felt that the bad guy and indeed many of the protagionists were a tad larger than life in either their badness or tragedy. I did not believe Lucy's father. That character did not fully work for me. And the killer was too bad, and very violent for a revenge killer. He reminded me of some of Patricia Cornwell's serial killers who kill for the fun of it rather than any motive. All that being said this is really good packed full of interesting, realistic characters. It's my first Karen Rose and will not be my last.

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Early in the morning while singing along with ZZ Top, Baltimore medical examiner Dr. Lucy Trask jogs. She stops when she notices sexagenarian Mr. Pugh sitting by himself at a chess table. She assumes he wandered out of his apartment so she goes over to help him home only to find the Alzheimer's ailing man dead with his face gone. She calls 911; Baltimore PD Detectives J.D. Fitzpatrick and Stevie Mazzetti lead the inquiry. The shoes are wrong leading Trask to realize the victim is not Mr. Pugh.

The victim is identified as Christopher Jones due to cheek implants, but the cops find Jones alive. Lucy realizes the deceased is cosmetic surgeon Dr. Russ Bennett, who she has a history with. Soon other tortured dead are found, some of which the M.E. knows. Lucy wonders if the psychopath is tied to the decades old incident that left her distrusting people.

This is a strong police procedural with a deep cast starting with the beleaguered heroine, the cop who she likes but avoids and the amoral killer. Fast-paced with superb twists, readers will relish this terrific tale of an insane predatory killing machine lacking any societal restraints.

I am not going to give a summary of the content - other reviewers have done that to a sufficient degree and very well.

What we have here is a prime example of excellent story-telling. Karen Rose is one of my favourite authors and has, again, delivered the goods. This book marks the beginning of a new series of books connected by re-appearing characters. Karen Rose's writing style is fluid, exciting and her stories are fast-paced. I enjoyed the interaction between hero and heroine, but I what I liked best is the fact that Rose does not only write from the hero/heroine's point of view Rather, we actually get an insight into the killer's motivation and background. That fact brings the book to life even more and it creates a wonderfully multi-faceted story.
