This review is from: You Better Be Careful (Audio CD)
Another solid release from Wolf Records. Vera Taylor was the widow of the great guitarist Eddie Taylor. This CD is a compilation of sorts -- it contains a few songs recorded in the early 1980's with Eddie Taylor on guitar, but the bulk of the CD was recorded more recently with Vera & Eddie's son Edward Taylor (aka Eddie Taylor Jr.) on guitar. Vera has a rough-cut voice with a solid, soulful delivery. Her original songs have good lyrics, and are based on classic Chicago blues melodies. The band includes Chicago stalwarts Johnny B. Moore, Willie Kent, and Eddie Shaw. There's no ground-breaking material here, but a good CD nonetheless.
